Summary
We begin with LD leaving her dad's garage for school, him nagging her about not behaving ladylike enough, which leads her to mutter under her breath that he should "drop dead". As she leaves, her dad starts feeling chest pains, and asks his apprentice to call an ambulance.
After the credits, LD, Voula, and Spike have to complete a project on the local hospital before next Friday. LD complains about how much she hates hospitals, while Voula says they should be able to get it done so long as they start today. LD tells her she can't start today, because her dad insists she clean the kitchen. Arriving back at home, LD talks to her father's apprentice Jeff, who informs her that her dad is in the hospital. Meanwhile Spike and Voula wait at the Degrassi steps, and Spike tells Voula how LD failed to arrive for a science project they did last year. LD collects things to go visit her father, but recalls when her mother was taken to hospital previously. Voula & Spike try to call LD, and she insists she just forgot. She also refuses to go to the hospital with Jeff, insisting she'll go visit her father tomorrow. At gym the next day, Spike and Voula try to get LD to help with the project, which leads LD to tell them her dad is in the hospital and she needs to visit him.
Arriving home again, LD asks Jeff what it's like living alone - he tells her it's lonely. He refuses to go visit with her, and so LD has to brace the hospital on her own. She gets there, but as soon as she enters she's visited with flashbacks of her mother's death, and runs away in a panic after leaving some flowers with reception. She calls her dad from outside the hospital, asking when he'll be home, and when he asks why she didn't come home, she uses the excuse of having a school project to work on.
At school, LD's classmates are planning to visit the hospital - unintentionally making LD feel guilty, as she still hasn't gone. When Voula and Spike arrive, LD's dad tells them she hasn't come to see him yet. After this, Voula finds LD hiding in the school gym, and LD confines how after how after her mom got sick, she went to the hospital and everyone said she would be okay, but then she died. LD also says how her dad doesn't like her and how he always yells at her, to which Voula says he's a normal dad - and that's no reason not to go visit him.
LD takes these words to heart, and finally goes to see her father. When she arrives at his room, he is nowhere to be seen, making her panic - luckily, her dad is fine, and arrives behind her telling her it'll take more than a little angina to take care of him. LD apologises and promises to be the perfect daughter from now on, but her dad cuts her off by placing a baseball cap over her head.
Over in the B-Plot, Melanie has a crush on Snake. Unfortunately, Arthur and Yick have left the cage of the school's pet Snake, Amadeus, open, causing much distress for Melanie who's afraid of actual snakes. She goes through the corridors with her boots taped closed to prevent the snake from getting into them, which does not stop her classmates pranking her by putting a plastic snake in her locker. Later, Amadeus is rediscovered in a bag in the library, and Melanie realises he's actually cute - while Arthur employs him against the classmates who bullied her. Melanie tells the Snake she likes that "some people are afraid of the silliest things".
