Prentiss: Lao Tzu said, "When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be."
Tropes:
- 555: Reid finds that the victims have called the same phone number, which contains this.
- Character Tic: Invoked by Reid, who points out that Prentiss only bites her nails when stressed.
- Mistaken for Pregnant: Garcia's guess why Prentiss seems so out of it is that she's "pregs". Which surprises Prentiss quite a bit. Prentiss had an abortion in her teen years (as stated in previous episodes), and she has been avoiding both pregnancies and physical intimacy for years.
- Real Dreams are Weirder: Prentiss tells Garcia about a recurring dream about a little girl dancing on a hill. She believes the girl, who she thinks represents Garcia, is in for a rude awakening if she tries to see only the good in everything.
- Spoiler: Garcia spoils the ending of a novel to a journalist. Thankfully, it's not a real novel.
- Prentiss: Journalist Dorothy Dix wrote, "Confession is always weakness. The grave soul keeps its own secrets and takes its own punishment in silence."
