Jack and the player meet outside of the Soviet embassy with Nicoletta to prepare for her stealing Da Vinci's treatise. Soon enough, Nicoletta gives the agents a signal that says they can enter, but instead of finding her, they find themselves at a crime scene, as ambassador Lev Romanov has been found strangled to death in the courtyard. Now the team must not only find the treatise, they must solve the ambassador's murder before the politically sensitive murder causes all hell to break loose.
Tropes:
- Ax-Crazy: Congressman Winslow set off the murder to give the US the go-ahead he figured it needed to start a war and wipe the Soviets off the map.
- Call-Back: This isn't the first time in this series a politician was strangled to death with a garrote hidden in a watch.note
- Forged Message: Since neither side is willing to look weak after Winslow is arrested, Marina and Bucky work to send each side a message saying that the other has surrendered.
- Freudian Excuse: Seeing Lev verbally abuse Natasha can really make you see why she decided to join up with SOMBRA.
