Jeremy's new herd of cows settle in, but soon reject the fence that keeps them in...
— Synopsis

One day after the cows had arrived, Clarkson and Kaleb go to check on the cows; Kaleb is apparently "quite excited" about this. They observe a piece of cow feces, talking about the benefits it could bring the the ecosystem in the farm, along with saving money on chemical expenditure. Lisa arrives shortly after, having returned from a trip to Ireland to see her parents; she offers her condolences to Kaleb.

After some walking, Kaleb and Lisa see the cows up close, while Clarkson attends to Dilwyn, who arrives to treat the cows. It is here where Clarkson realizes that the cows might be a bit disobedient, as they successfully manage to break through a fence and walk out of the field. Fearing that they would walk on the road and get killed, Clarkson, Kaleb and Lisa team up to herd the cows back into their field, mending the fence shortly after. Dilwyn then explains to Clarkson about the cow's behavior and their herd instincts.

Clarkson introduces Lisa to Pepper, a white cow he had bought from the farm; Tim and Katy's daughter requested Clarkson to look after Pepper for her, a promise he decided to keep. In addition to the beef he was planning to sell at his restaurant, Clarkson was also planning to sell a chili chutney at the farm shop and restaurant, having purchased the implements and irrigation systems required to build the polytunnel greenhouses for cultivation of the chilis. Clarkson then taste tests some chilis to decide what kinds he would be selling, such as the habanero and the Naga viper peppers; the latter is far too spicy for him to handle and he nearly throws up. After some deliberation, Clarkson decides to plant habaneros, Naga viper peppers and Carolina Reapers.

After preparing the chilis for cultivation, Clarkson proceeds to create the recipe for his chili chutney using some ripened Naga viper peppers at the kitchen of the local rugby club. Clarkson works with chefs Joanna Plumb and Tomasz Bagieński to create the sauce, but due to the heat of the peppers all three end up coughing furiously, even with extractor fans on at full force. With chutney creation completed, Clarkson returns to the farm to release the chickens from their henhouses, along with receiving 50 more chickens and a high-tech henhouse purchased from egg farmers Paddy and Steph Bourn. Clarkson, Paddy and Steph then erect the fencing around the henhouse and release the chickens from their henhouse; Clarkson is delighted to see the chickens eating the worms from the cows's feces. Clarkson then notes that Paddy and Steph actually dropped off a second henhouse, this one housing 25 roosters; Paddy explains this is done for ethical reasons. Feeling content with now having a steady supply of beef, chicken and eggs for the restaurant, Clarkson calls it a day.

The next day, at 3:58 am, Clarkson is rudely awoken by the crowing of a rooster; he returns to the field to find that the roosters had escaped, either having been killed by the foxes or over at the other henhouses. Despite this problem, Clarkson believes the cows and chickens are making a good team, doing whatever he envisioned them to do to aid the farm's ecosystem. Clarkson then heads to the farm shop with a batch of his chili chutney for customer feedback; a positive reaction is garnered from the "medium hot" version of his chili chutney, which causes Clarkson to give the "not medium" version of the chili chutney to the customers to sample, which many of his customers find too hot.

Clarkson is awoken by the roosters again the next morning, now calling it "useful" as their lives were about to get much busier. As some of the calves have matured, Clarkson and Lisa prepare to wean them off their mothers's milk by moving them across to another field. Unfortunately for Clarkson, the calves escape from the field and enter a neighboring farmer's farm; Clarkson, Lisa and Kaleb drive over to the farmer's farm, with Clarkson and Lisa offering their apologies to the farmer. Kaleb and Clarkson round up the missing cows while apologizing to the exasperated farm hands, with Clarkson hoping for this to be a one-off incident. Annoyingly for the Diddly Squat farm, it wasn't, leading to four escapes in ten days; Clarkson knew he had to do a good job of mending the fences to prevent future escapes. Clarkson shoddily mends the fence and gets mocked by Kaleb, with Kaleb instructing Clarkson on how farmers would deal with this situation.

Confused, Clarkson attempts to follow Kaleb's method of mending the fence; as he goes on, a fence post snaps, injuring Clarkson. Giving up on his attempt, Clarkson returns to the farm's office to complete an online course on farm health and safety, which he loathes due to its monotonous and repetitive nature. Thankfully for Clarkson, Kaleb calls to inform him that their 20,000 liter water tank had arrived used to store rainwater; they try to mount it but suffer from significant lean. Kaleb suggests a concrete pad to mount the tank on, an idea which Clarkson rejects as "every bit of concrete in the country" is being used to construct the HS2 high-speed rail system. Due to a lack of concrete and the lean, the two relocate the tank to the other side of the barn and fit its components the next day.

Kaleb suggests using the JCB scissor lift to assist with fitting the components; the lift malfunctions, causing Clarkson to panic. They eventually get the lift working, with Clarkson forcing Kaleb to get a ladder. They climb up and install the piping to the tank. The next day, Clarkson plans to impregnate the cows, and on Kaleb's advice, spends £10,000 to purchase a livestock crush; they then work together to construct the associated pen as a holding area for the cows, and later begin herding the cows into the pen for the crush.

At this moment, Dilwyn arrives to artificially inseminate the two heifers, Deeny and Pepper; Clarkson and Kaleb assist Dilwyn in the insemination, prodding the cows through the crush, but this turns out to be a lot easier said than done as the cows refuse to move, even in the pouring rain. Attempting to use food to prod them into the crush does not work either. After some time, Clarkson, Kaleb and Dilwyn get Deeny into the crush, whereupon Dilwyn inseminates her; the same is done with Pepper. Shortly after, the cows are released back into their field. As it would take a week for the insemination process, Kaleb and his brother Kieron help mend the broken cow fence while Clarkson tries his hand at hedge clipping. Clarkson begins at the hedge near Gerald's house; as he trims the hedges, he passes by an unimpressed Gerald, with a perplexed Kaleb watching from the distance. Once Clarkson was done with his hedge, Gerald, through a walkie-talkie, gives Clarkson a good ribbing while Kaleb laughs.

A week after Dilwyn's visit, the two heifers were now on heat, with Clarkson observing their attempts at mounting the other cows. Clarkson then laughs at a photo of Deeny having walked into the the crush by itself. Now beginning the impregnation process, Clarkson and Lisa attempt to herd the cows towards the crush; at this moment, Dilwyn, Charlie and Tim arrive with canisters of sperm and liquid nitrogen. Tim and Dilwyn begin the procedure, ending with two potentially pregnant heifers. By now, the chickens have laid a decent amount of eggs and the chili chutney was now in production for sale at the farm shop; things were looking good for Clarkson's restaurant, with the next thing he had to do was winning the support of the locals.
