Recap / Centaurworld S2E1: Horsatia Wighair Beansz?

Go To

Horse tries to recruit an army to defend Centaurworld, but no one wants to join. The Herd visits the Horsetaurs' castle to see if they'll help.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Continuity Nod: Many of the characters from the previous season appear during Horse’s recap song.
  • Curse Cut Short: During Ched' verse of "The Power of Privilege", he almost rhymes a word with "glasses", but is interrupted by The Duchess Malangella.
Ched: Ah, let 'em have their balls behind the walls
    These weird tulip dances
The endless clitter-clatter of all these stupid champagne glasses
    The dinner pitter-patter
    Cocktail dress table manners
    Country-club croquet disaster
I hope the Minotaurs come and kick your—
    Malangella: But alas!
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Ched's is hinted at, with the apparent reveal of his history with the horsetaurs.
  • Genre Savvy: After all her time in Centaurworld, Horse manages to bullshit her way all the way up to the Horsetaur leader by making up a blatantly made-up name on the spot and going along with their stupid customs. She was even able to guess the Duchess's name on the first try.
  • Head-in-the-Sand Management: The Duchess seems to think that the Horsetaur's privilege entitles her to abstain from defending the world from the Nowhere King out of the belief that their walls can keep him out.
  • Idle Rich: The horsetaurs, ESPECIALLY their duchess, are more than content to stay in their fortress and pamper themselves, even as a war threatens the rest of the world.
  • Kill the Poor: Part of why the Duchess declines to help Horse's cause; the potential war will reduce the amount of "riff-raff".
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Rider mistakes the General for a stable hand, once she realizes this she's horrified with herself. But the General takes it in stride and quickly shows that he's a pretty chill guy.
  • Unseen No More: The General mentioned a couple of times in the first episode makes an appearance when Rider mistakes him for a stable hand.
  • Upper-Class Twit: The horsetaur duchess is lazy, ditzy, and classist to boot.
  • Visual Pun: When Zulius demanded the oiler job, his lips were noticeably dry. You might say he was thirsty.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: The Tree Shamans are unwilling to assist the herd, given their last encounter didn't end well…
Tree Shamans: The last time you were here
All you did was kick and steal from us
All you did was kick a tree
    And steal our stuff
  • Wrong Genre Savvy: Horse presumes that, like her, the Horsetaurs are a Proud Warrior Race. Instead they are all just a bunch of foppish snobs, albeit the swole ones.
