Stan forgets his anniversary again, and to avoid ending up on COPS, he erases Francine's memory. But instead of erasing the last day, he erases her memory to before they met. Meanwhile, Steve tries to date a girl, but only if he can find a date for her ugly friend.
Tropes:
- Answer Cut: Francine is confident that Stan couldn't forget getting beaten by her and is probably waiting to surprise her, as their anniversary isn't over until midnight. It then cuts to Stan fishing with Bullock and Jackson at midnight.
- Characterization Click Moment: This is the first time that Roger puts on a disguise in order to leave the house, though his personas would come later.
- Delayed Reaction:
- Stan comments that he's trying to avoid going home because it's the anniversary of a huge fight he had with Francine...in which he forgot their anniversary. Jackson is about to point this out, but Bullock stops him so that Stan can figure it out for himself, which takes about ten seconds.
- Steve gets this too-used to being turned down, when his date suggests they go to his place to fool around, he immediately leaves in dismay...before realizing she just offered him second-base.
- Delusions of Beauty: Jewel doesn't seem very aware of her repulsive physical appearance. Her only moment of unearned confidence slipping is because she thinks she's a loser, not unattractive, and even then that was just a ploy to smooch Roger against his will, indicating she's as unpleasant on the inside as she is on the out.
- Didn't Think This Through: When Francine runs off to Burning Man with Jeff, Stan suggests to Hayley that they become a couple to get back at them. After saying it out loud, he admits he didn't think this idea through.
- Double Standard: Abuse, Female on Male: In the COPS episode, Francine beat the hell out of Stan for forgetting their anniversary, even knocking out some of his teeth.
- Forgotten Anniversary: What kicks off the episode. Stan forgot their anniversary a year ago, and Francine was so angry that the domestic altercation ended up on an episode of COPS.
- Man on Fire: Jeff accidentally lights himself on fire while trying to demonstrate Burning Man.Jeff: Imagine this but 70 feet tall. (goes back to screaming in pain)
- Oh, Crap!: Stan when he realizes he forgot their anniversary again.
