A string of murders are committed by someone mimicking a serial killer who was put in jail by Kennex’s father.

- Cyborg: The titular Straw Man.
- Dirty Cops: The cops who worked with Edward Kennex, John's father. Edward was the only one in his unit that wasn't. He was also was accused with taking technology from the evidence locker before he was killed. It is also revealed in this episode that he was setup probably by the evidence officer at the time who also was killed weeks after Edward was killed.
- Frame-Up: The real Straw Man framed an innocent man for the original crimes.
- Jack the Ripoff: Inverted, it was actually the real criminal who got away with the original crimes who had someone to be the fall guy for the originals.
- Matter Replicator: The organic 3D printer was used by the real criminal to make organic shell copies of his victims to make the police stop looking for them by making them think they have found a dead body.
