Making an effort to be better parents, Julienne and Barty adopt Julien a younger brother, a disgusting Aye-aye named Brodney. While Julien is enthusiastic about making brotherhood work, trouble arises when it turns out Brodney is actually older than Julien, and thus legally the official King of the Lemur Kingdom.
Tropes:
- Call-Back: While Clover objects to the idea that one can just ask for a brother and get one the next day, Julien responds that they just had to go get one out of the Baby Patch.
- Character Development: The events of this episode are the moment Julien realizes his parents aren't good people, and marks the transition from desperately wanting them around to wanting them gone.
- Gasshole: Brodney has an extremely powerful musk gland that he often deploys when he gets nervous or afraid.
- Funny Animal Anatomy: Brodney and Maurice are both Aye-ayes, but look completely different. Brodney is a more accurate representation of an Aye-aye. The stark difference in character design will eventually be an important plot point.
- Murder Is the Best Solution: While Julien goes out of his way to try and resolve the issue of Brodney being the rightful king by blood in a way that lets him still keep his brother, his parents come up with the simpler idea of having Brodney executed. This action is what causes Julien to realize that his parents are kind of terrible people.
- Sworn Brothers: Determined to make Brodney feel like family, Julien holds an official ceremony to have them legally declared brothers by blood.Maurice: On rare occasions, when two lemurs wish to become brothers, they can hold what is known as a Brother Marriage, or "Brarriage"
- Vomit Indiscretion Shot: When Clover and Mort both get shot with Brodney's musk, they manage to hold in the need to vomit for a little while, before both exploding with enough force to spray all over Julien's room.Julien: Neither of you are ever allowed in my hut again!
