Layla's father, music producer J.P. Keating, is searching for a potential venue to host his girlfriend, a rapper from Crenshaw named Chyna. Charmed by Spencer's football game, J.P. asks him to arrange a hosting at Alvin's block party with Coop serving as emcee, despite disapproval from Layla, who doubts that Chyna is truly enamored with her father. Meanwhile, Jordan and Asher hit a rough patch thanks to the former knowing about the latter's tryst with Olivia.

The irony is that he isn't even talking about him, but himself, as it's revealed that he urged Chyna to fabricate her childhood in Crenshaw for promotional purposes.
