Jake is taken to the homeworld of his alien biological dad, who has plans in store for him.

Tropes:

  • Affably Evil: For a guy who admits to Offing the Offspring, Warren is a rather jovial fella.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: Warren can't understand why Jake would be okay being stuck in space if it meant keeping his kids safe.
  • Face Death with Dignity: Despite his initial panic, Warren eventually accepts his death by black hole.
Warren: I see now... this fleshy form has taken me as far as it can... I'm going 4-D, baby!
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Jake manages to turn the tables on Warren by switching their belts and using the latter's "low-key affection" to manipulate him into stretching into a whole party of characters. Unfortunately, Jake gloating about being a father too causes Warren to change his plan to going after the pups instead.
  • Immediate Sequel: The episode begins during the last scenes of "The First Investigation."
  • Offing the Offspring: Warren drains the life force from all the kids he has in order to keep himself alive and young, and was planning to do the same to Jake.
  • Papa Wolf: Warren Ampersand says he'll drain the powers from Jake and Lady's pups. Jake tosses him into a black hole without a second thought.
  • Planetville: Warren takes Jake to his home planet Nerraw, essentially one city designed around a prophecy of Jake defeating a tentacle monster named Ishkano. Justified in that the whole thing was staged by Warren to sap Jake's power: all the buildings and people were just Warren stretched and shapeshifted. When he abandons Jake, the only thing left of Nerraw is the desolate planet itself.
  • Sapping the Shapeshifter: Warren sires children so he can sap their life to prolong his own. He does so by conning them into wearing a belt, paired to his own, that drains their life force whenever they use their shapeshifting powers and manipulating them into pulling off many feats. Jake thwarts him by secretly switching the belts and conning Warren into doing tricks for him.
  • Saying Too Much: Jake brags about being a better dad than Warren, letting him know he has more descendants he can drain.
  • Sdrawkcab Name: The planet Nerraw, which is just Warren's name backwards, hinting at its duplicitous nature.
