Basic Trope: A character references the "You talkin' to me?" scene from Taxi Driver.

  • Straight: Alice says "You talkin' to me?" several times in front of a mirror.
  • Exaggerated: In a full-blown homage to the movie, Alice does the scene line for line, complete with flashing a retractable handgun.
  • Downplayed: Alice says "You talkin' to me?" to someone else.
  • Justified: Alice is playing Travis Bickle in a Screen-to-Stage Adaptation of Taxi Driver.
  • Inverted: Alice references other scenes from Taxi Driver such as the shootout scene or the sick passenger scene, but not the "You talkin' to me?" scene.
  • Subverted: Alice says "You talkin' to me?" to someone she thinks is actually trying to talk to her.
  • Double Subverted: That person turns out to be Robert De Niro.
  • Parodied: Alice says "You talkin' to me?" in the style of Jake LaMotta or Jimmy the Gent.
  • Lampshaded: "You talkin' to me? God, what a great movie."

You Talkin' to Me? Well, I'm the only one here.
