Playing With / Working Out Their Emotions

Go To

Basic Trope: Work out = Anger out.

  • Straight: The Big Guy Flash Young, after a particularly frustrating day, takes his anger out on a heavy bag, furiously punching it to let off some steam.
  • Exaggerated: Flash is so pissed off that he ends up ripping up the heavy bag.
  • Downplayed: Flash simply does push-ups to let some steam off.
  • Justified: Hey, it's good stress relief to exercise, especially if you're pissed off. Gives you the bonus of getting stronger as a result.
  • Inverted: Flash, at his calmest, works his ass out. And at his angriest, he meditates.
  • Subverted: Flash decides to just do something that's not destructive or involves hitting something.
  • Double Subverted: He then decides "Screw it!" and works out even harder than ever.
  • Parodied: ???
  • Zig-Zagged: Flash's anger and work-out ratio is... Screwy, to say the least. Some days when he's pissed he'd meditate, other days he'd hit the heavy bag, and it's rather unpredictable.
  • Averted: Flash doesn't do anything productive while angry.
  • Enforced: It shows the anger in someone without making them too destructive.
  • Lampshaded: Alicia remarks "Damn, Flash, you seem pretty pent up."
  • Invoked: Billy tells Flash to "Work the heavy bag like you work your emotions".
  • Exploited: Flash gets stronger with his exercising.
  • Defied: Flash chooses not to exercise; He may break himself or the equipment he's using.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
