Basic Trope: Non-human primates are added for comedic purposes.

  • Straight:
    • A humorous scene involving monkeys is added to the show for no particular reason.
    • Mike, a Talking Animal monkey, is the Plucky Comic Relief and usually getting up to silly shenanigans.
  • Exaggerated:
    • The show is a comedy where all of the characters are primates.
    • The show adds comical scenes involving monkeys whenever it possibly can.
  • Downplayed:
    • Mike is The Comically Serious from time to time.
    • There are no primates, but someone tells a funny joke about a monkey at one point.
  • Justified:
    • Monkeys are known for getting into goofy shenanigans from time to time.
    • Mike is an entertainer.
  • Inverted:
    • Maniac Monkeys
    • Mike is an extremely serious monkey who never does anything funny.
    • The show is set in a monkey world, where Mike the human is usually used for comedy.
  • Subverted: Monkeys are shown as humorous at first, until they suddenly attack someone.
  • Double Subverted: The Maniac Monkeys are still portrayed as Laughably Evil.
  • Parodied: ???
  • Zig-Zagged: ???
  • Averted:
    • Monkeys are not added to the series.
    • The only time monkeys are ever shown is when it'd make logical sense, and there isn't much attention drawn to them at all.
  • Enforced: "People find monkeys funny, so let's add a few of them doing silly things."
  • Lampshaded: ???
  • Invoked: Someone trains Mike the monkey to do some tricks.
  • Exploited: The characters need a distraction, so they call upon Mike the monkey to do something humorous.
  • Defied: ???
  • Discussed: "Monkeys are usually either funny, aggressive, or smart in fiction. Or all three."
  • Conversed: "What was that scene with the monkeys all about?" "I don't know, but it sure was funny!"

Let's go back to Silly Simian and see the funny monkeys.
