- Alice uses a type of magic whose spells must be sung.
- Seth is skilled in a type of magic appropriately called magic music, where the spells are played through music.
- Inverted: A magic spell has the result of playing music.
- Subverted: Bob, a magician, is in hiding casting Functional Magic from behind Alice.
- Double Subverted: But Alice later makes Magic Music on her own.
