Basic Trope: Being angry because of something that happened in a dream.
- Straight: Alice dreams that Bob stole some money off her. When she wakes up, she's angry at Bob.
- Exaggerated: Alice is Bob's best friend, but after dreaming he stole her money, she declares she hates him!
- Downplayed: Alice isn't mad at Bob from the dream but she's still annoyed in general despite her money not being gone.
- Justified:
- That money was very important to Alice and Alice is not a very logical person. Additionally, she's a bit moody and prone to getting caught up in her imagination.
- Alice had been having the same dream every night for weeks and is suspicious.
- Alice had been suspecting Bob of stealing from her already.
- Alice often (but not always) has dreams that foretell future events.
- Inverted:
- Alice dreams that Bob gave her some money. The next day, she thanks him, even though he didn't really do it.
- Alice has a dream in which she's angry because something annoying happened in real life.
- Subverted:
- Alice dreams about Bob stealing her money. In the next scene, she's telling him off but it turns out she's telling him off for something unrelated.
- Alice dreams about Bob stealing her money. In the next scene, she's saying to him, "How dare you steal my money?!" but it turns out they're just joking about the dream.
- Alice dreams about Bob stealing her money. In the next scene, she's seen annoyed, but later it's revealed that she's annoyed for an unrelated reason.
- Alice dreams about Bob stealing her money. In the next scene, she appears to be telling him off, but it turns out she's acting.
- Alice turns out to be apologizing to Bob. "I'm sorry I could even imagine you doing such a thing."
- Bob did steal Alice's money, but he tried to convince her it was only in her dream.
- Alice yells at Bob about the money from the dream, because it was a traumatic flashback of Bob stealing from her for real.
- Double Subverted:
- But the reason why she felt Bob needed telling off was because she was still steamed from the dream.
- They were joking to cheer Alice up, because, while not mad at Bob, Alice was still a bit annoyed because of the dream.
- She's annoyed for the unrelated reason and the dream.
- She can get in-character because she's annoyed from the dream.
- Parodied: Alice is mad at her Imaginary Friend for something they did in a dream.
- Zigzagged: Alice flips between being mad at the dream and being relieved it was just a dream.
- Averted:
- No dreams are mentioned.
- Alice doesn't have an annoying dream.
- Alice has annoying dreams but they don't make her mad in real life.
- Lampshaded: "Why am I so mad? It was just a dream!"
- Enforced: The writers wanted Alice to be mad at Bob so there could be conflict between Alice and Bob, but Bob is too friendly and knows Alice too well to do something that would make her mad.
- Invoked: Carol can manipulate dreams and makes Alice dream about Alice stealing her money to try and make her mad at him.
- Exploited: An Emotion Eater eats Alice's anger.
- Defied: Alice refuses to let a dream make her mad.
- Discussed: "Is it possible to be mad at someone if they only did something in a dream?"
- Conversed: "Why is that character so mad? It's just a dream!"
- Implied:
- Alice dreams Bob stole her money. The next scene has Alice giving Bob a Death Glare for seemingly no reason.
- Alice complains about Bob doing a number of bizarre things that clearly only happened in a dream.
- Deconstructed: It damages Alice and Bob's friendship.

- She makes a point of not taking it out on Bob, but she's still a bit peeved.
- Bob is understanding and tries to get Alice out of her mood.
- Played for Laughs: Bob is baffled while Alice chews him out and then turns to the audience and says, "She's bananas!"
