Basic Trope: A character that is average and boring to an abnormal degree.
- Straight: Bob is a mundane office worker who has little hobbies outside of solitare and knitting.
- Exaggerated: On top of that, Bob is Obsessively Normal. He eats oatmeal for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and his dream location would be a trip to the supermarket.
- Logical Extreme: Bob is comepletely hobbyless. In fact, he doesn't even leave his house whatsoever all year. He is devoid of all human emotion.
- Downplayed: Bob has some hobbies in sports, but likes to lay down with a book once in a while.
- Justified:
- Bob was seltered very much growing up and has never heard about things more fun than riding an escalator.
- Bob is simply uncreative at thinking of fun things to do.
- Subverted: Bob appears very mundane, but eventually reveals he obtained a world record.
- Double Subverted: The worlds record is for "world's most boring person."
- Inverted: Bob is an oddball who cant stand anything not fun.
- Parodied: Bob is so boring that when met at the sight of an amusement park, he nearly dies.
- Averted: Bob has a plethora of interesting traits and not one of them is common. He never exactly has one mundane day.
- Defied: Bob would love to go do something fun, but must stay in character for the runtime.
- Zig-Zagged: Bob is percieved as boring to many, but from where he lives he's considered way past cool. The rest of society is viewed as lame.
- Enforced: The author is secretly writing a hitpiece on how their bland coworker acts.
- Lampshaded: Bob is on par with the cast usually, but when talking about home he seemingly lives an extremely boring life compared to the rest of them.
- Discussed: "Bob is so bland... has he ever had a fun day in his life?"
- Conversed: "Ah, Bob doesn't do weekends. He's more of a monday guy."
- Invoked:
- Bob acts like this in order to hide the fact that he's a celebrity and avoid attention.
- Bob used to have lots of fun once, but was bullied out of it.
- Exploited: Bob acts this way so his friends can buy him free tickets to fun events without begging them.
- Played for Laughs: Bob's consistently bland antics contrast with the more lighthearted and wacky cast. That, or he's a Straightman for the group.
- Played for Drama: Bob has never known true happiness all his life and lives thinking any semblance of joy will ruin his chances as a career. Bonus points if he has a Soul-Crushing Desk Job.
- Played for Horror: Bob is actually a shape shifting alien, and this is his interpretation of mankind. He does this to trick the cast into getting near him.
- Implied: The series takes place a long way from the character's homes, and Bob is the most average joe out of the group.
- Unparodied: Bob is naturally like this all the time and is accepted by the cast.
- Untwisted: People talk about Bob as the coolest guy ever, but once the protagonist meets him, he's way more boring than they expect.
- Deconstructed: Bob's interests are actually normal and bring him no harm, but he's ostracized for it.
- Reconstructed: ???
