Basic Trope: A location that transforms its inhabitants to match.
- Straight: People who stay in Tropeland for too long start to get the strong compulsion to spend hours every day looking at and editing pages on storytelling devices.
- Exaggerated: Just walking into Tropeland will instantly cause you to get addicted to editing pages, and will also cause you to turn into a fictional species that reflects your personality.
- Downplayed: Tropeland can cause those who visit to want to edit pages on occasion.
- Justified:
- Using some sort of magical force field, Tropeland fits a certain theme. Anything that doesn't fit the theme is simply transformed into something that does.
- On a more mundane level, this can be Truth in Television; people may start to change their personality based on what's around them.
- Inverted:
- The inhabitants can change Tropeland to match.
- Tropeland's appearance and effects reflect its administrators' intent.
- Subverted: Alice's changes in personality are believed to be caused by visiting Tropeland, but in reality she's just going through Character Development.
- Double Subverted: That doesn't explain why she's a werewolf now, though...
- Parodied: Alice and Bob switch apartments and start to gain each others' personality.
- Zig-Zagged: Many people go through Tropeland - some of them change, and some of them don't.
- Averted: Tropeland does not cause any changes to its residents.
- Enforced:
- "We need to show firsthand that something is different about this town!"
- A way to add a Medium-Shift Gag on occasion.
- Lampshaded: "Did you see what just happened to that guy that went into Tropeland?"
- Invoked: The ruler of Tropeland decides to magically enchant the land so that its residents match.
- Exploited:
- Now that Alice and Bob match the appearance of Tropeland, they can blend in more easily.
- Alice and Bob gain powers from going into Tropeland.
- Defied: The ruler of Tropeland decides that residents should not have to change to fit their location.
- Discussed: "I feel like if we go in there, we'll go through some changes."
- Conversed: "The characters just went into that magical location. How quickly do you think they'll start turning into something else?"
Back to Fisher Kingdom. Hey, you seem a little different from how you were when I left...
