Basic Trope: A caveman existing in the present day.
- Straight: Mog is a caveman living in modern times.
- Exaggerated: A whole bunch of cavemen exist in modern times.
- Downplayed:
- There's an implication that a slightly less evolved species of human still exists out there somewhere, but it doesn't get brought up much.
- Cavemen aren't shown living in the modern day, but still in periods in which they wouldn't exist.
- Justified:
- Mog was brought to present day through time travel, or from being a Human Popsicle for many years.
- Cavepeople never went extinct in this setting.
- Inverted:
- Modern humans are shown living in the Stone Age.
- Cavemen are shown living in time periods that come way before early humans ever did, such as showing them living among dinosaurs.
- Subverted: That's Bob, a modern human trying to live like a caveman, for the Caveman Challenge.
- Double Subverted: It's easier for him, in appearance and behaviour, than it would be for most other people. He looks somewhat like a caveman and knows how they act because he has recent cave-dweller ancestry.
- Parodied: Fred is a guy from ten years before the show takes place, and he gets brought into the present day somehow. Everyone acts like he's a caveman.
- Zig-Zagged: It's ambiguous as to what time period Mog is from, given he lives in an area with traditionally prehistoric visuals and yet owns several modern appliances.
- Averted:
- Cavemen are not shown.
- Any cavemen shown are in the Stone Age, where they'd reasonably be expected.
- Enforced: ???
- Lampshaded:Bob: Mog, I—I didn't expect to meet an actual caveman in 2023. I thought you guys had died off as a distinct human species.Mog: Show how much you have to learn, Bob.
- Invoked: ???
- Exploited: ???
- Defied: ???
- Discussed: ???
- Conversed: ???
- Deconstructed: Mog has no familiarity with modern human diseases, causing his death.
