Basic Trope: A character gets drunk and proceeds to do stupid things.

  • Straight: Alice drinks a bit too much alcohol and proceeds to damage her belongings, such as punching her friend's TV.
  • Exaggerated: Alice is normally a genius but a tiny amount of alcohol will cause her to set her friend's house on fire.
  • Downplayed: Alice drinks alcohol and starts to ramble incoherently about supposed facts and conspiracy theories that are untrue.
  • Justified: Truth in Television.
  • Inverted: The normally dumb Alice becomes very smart when drinking alcohol.
  • Subverted: Alice drinks some alcohol, then seemingly tries to start a fight. Turns out she was just acting drunk as a joke.
  • Double Subverted: But it takes a little while for the alcohol's effects to kick in.
  • Parodied: Alice gets Drunk on Milk and acts inebriated.
  • Zig Zagged: ???
  • Averted: No one gets drunk.
  • Enforced: It's a PSA with an Anti-Alcohol Aesop.
  • Lampshaded: "There she goes again. Now that she's drunk, she'll do something really stupid now."
  • Invoked: Bob sneaks alcohol into a non-alcoholic beverage that Alice drink.
  • Exploited: Charlie the conman takes the opportunity to scam or rob Alice while she's under the influence.
  • Defied: Alice refuses to ever drink alcohol.
  • Discussed: "Remember that time when Alice wrecked her friend's home after getting drunk?"
  • Conversed: “Alice's drunk behaviour in this show reminds me very much of my mother.”
  • Implied: Alice is seen drinking alcohol. Then we cut to her friend angrily kicking her out of her house.
  • Deconstructed: Alice's stupid behaviour when drunk is so obnoxious that all her friends and family start to shun her.
  • Played for Laughs: Alice gets drunk and says hilarious non-sequiturs.
  • Played for Drama: Alice drinks lots of alcohol, then tries to drive herself home. She causes a serious car accident as a result.
