Basic Trope: The ruins of an abandoned campsite.

  • Straight: Alice and Bob discover the remains of an abandoned campsite while wandering around in the woods. The tents are broken, and firewood and provisions are scattered around.
  • Exaggerated: They discover millions of abandoned campsites.
  • Downplayed: Alice and Bob only find a single abandoned and broken tent in the woods.
  • Justified: The campsite was attacked by bears, and the people who set up the campsite there ran away.
  • Inverted: Alice and Bob discover an intact campsite in the woods, with people still staying there.
  • Subverted: It turns out that it wasn't abandoned at all, the people staying there were still sleeping in the tent even though it was ruined.
  • Double Subverted: But then Alice and Bob discover another abandoned campsite when nearby. There's nobody there this time.
  • Parodied:
  • Zig-Zagged:
    • Alice and Bob come across abandoned and ruined campsites, but also several that are intact and occupied by happy campers.
    • Alice and Bob discover the remains of an abandoned campsite. Then they meet Adam, who claims he survived an attack on the campsite. But then he reveals himself to be lying and tries to kill them. Then Betty subdues Adam, and she turns out to have survived the attack ... because she went Ax-Crazy and killed all her friends.
  • Averted: Alice and Bob don't discover a campsite in the woods.
  • Enforced: The creator wanted to add a reference to real-life incidents involving an abandoned campsite.
  • Lampshaded: "Oh, my lord, is that an abandoned campsite?! Where did the people go?!"
  • Invoked: Alice deliberately sets up a fake abandoned campsite to scare Bob as a prank.
  • Exploited: Given that Alice and Bob are short on supplies, and obviously nobody is around to use these supplies, they raid the abandoned campsite for usable things.
  • Defied: Alice and Bob, upon discovering the abandoned campsite, decide not to investigate further and leave the area immediately.
  • Discussed: "I hope we don't find another abandoned campsite like in these horror movies."
  • Conversed: "Oh look, they found the ruins of an abandoned campsite. It kind of reminds me of Friday the 13th."
  • Implied: Alice and Bob stumble upon a trail of broken camping gear and scattered supplies, suggesting that an abandoned campsite was nearby.
  • Deconstructed: The show explores the emotional toll it takes on the characters who were forced to leave it behind. It highlights their fear, loss, and desperation.
  • Reconstructed: The Reveal is that the people who set it up did so as a decoy to lure away a dangerous predator, ensuring the safety of others.
  • Played for Laughs: Alice and Bob comically stumble upon a series of ridiculously over-the-top abandoned campsites, each with its own bizarre and humorous reason for being deserted.
  • Played for Drama: Alice and Bob become obsessed with finding and/or avenging the victims of the attack on the campsite.
  • Played for Horror: The abandoned campsite becomes the focal point of a terrifying supernatural presence, with eerie signs of what transpired and the characters being haunted by its dark history.
