After his true motivation is revealed, Alejandro turns into a complete sociopath. Aside from the cannibals, his complete 180 from a charismatic leader to a selfish, backstabbing jackass is one of the scariest things in the movie.
This movie isn't even safe from Jump Scares, as around the end, there is a Nightmare Sequence where Alejandro returns to the university only for Justine to sprout Scary Teeth and bite into his neck.
