Zelda: Haunting you in your sleep since 1983.

  • Zelda wins the award for one of the creepiest villains of the 80s. Between her haggard appearance, piercing eyes and shrieking cackle, she's fondly remembered as a constant source of nightmares to kids everywhere.
    • Definitely not helped by the way the opening credits show her face being assembled in layers (skull, muscle, skin.) And this is shown before any of the heroes!
    • Zelda manages to make an impact before she even appears on screen. The opening to the pilot shows her ominous spaceship approaching Mars... and then proceeding to obliterate the human base without warning, the only communication being her Evil Laugh.
  • MOID definitely belongs here. Imagine a skull with wrinkled skin, bulging eyes, a hollow, emotionless voice, and the ability to perfectly disguise himself as anyone around you. Nightmare Fuel personified.
  • There's a scene in "Mind Monster" where Tiger traps the eponymous creature by allowing it to invade his brain, all the while screaming his lungs out. For a show that often doesn't take itself too seriously, it's a deeply unsettling moment.
  • Even the good guys can look a little freaky. The puppets used in Terrahawks were made out of latex rather than wood and fiberglass (the traditional materials used in Supermarionation) and were designed to look and move more realistically than any other Anderson puppets to date. The downside to this was that most of them fell straight into Unintentional Uncanny Valley, making them look just as creepy as the villains from certain angles!
