A 1989 Star Trek: The Original Series novel by Michael Jan Friedman that has the Enterprise once again dealing with Dr. Roger Korby and his robots.

It was published by Pocket Books on April 1989.

No connection to the Ellery Queen novel of the same title.


Tropes for the novel:

  • "Double, Double" Title: Funnily enough, Double Double.
  • The Empath: K'leb is one and he senses a change when a robot double of Kirk comes to Enterprise and deduces that something had happen to Kirk.
  • I Owe You My Life: Kirk saves the life of a native of T'nufo named K'leb and the young man declares he owes him his life and Kirk reluctantly lets him serve as a crew member until discharging him at the end of the story.
  • One-Shot Character:
    • K'leb a young native of T'nufo that Kirk saves and pledges his life in service to Kirk.
  • Robot Me:
    • There are android versions of Kirk, Spock, Chekov, and Sulu.
