Sure, Where Was My Hero...? can be sad and horrifying. But there are still tender moments sprinkled throughout the comic.- In the original timeline, after Miles was bullied, he witnesses Sonic through the bushes. The awe-struck look on Miles' face is sweet, as this became the exact moment Miles considered Sonic his first and only friend.Miles: Wow! That guy is cool!
- Everything seems glum for Miles at one point, but it changes when he comes across a bird with a damaged wing. He proceeds to take care of the bird, from feeding him to bandaging its wing. Over time, the bird becomes Miles' Living Emotional Crutch, and the boy could not be any more happier to have somebody else alongside him. This can be seen as the page image.
- When Sonic takes Pearl back to the safe zone, Amy immediately stops her cooking duties and goes to comfort Pearl, asking for her name. She also drapes her shawl over Pearl when the latter cries for her mom and dad.
- After Sonic announces that he will go back into the city to confront Miles, Knuckles immediately argues that it could result in his death and tries to stop him from doing this. Knuckles even asks to go along with Sonic! They may be Fire-Forged Friends, but Knuckles still cares for Sonic's wellbeing.
- Tragic as it may be, Miles revealing that his entire plan was actually leading to a Suicide by Cop. He wanted Sonic to finally kill him, and to do that, he pretended to have a countdown that would destroy the world! Miles never intended to hurt any more people, because he recognized how far he went!
