Heartwarming / Warning Letter

Warning! All spoilers for the story will be unmarked. Proceed at your own peril.

Despite this Crossover being between two dark entries, there are plenty of moments in the story that will warm your heart right up, and show that even someone like Light Yagami deserves some love and attention.

  • The whole reason behind Sayu requesting the Phantom Thieves to steal her brother's heart. She isn't doing it because it's the right thing to do or that she's the daughter of a cop. She just wants her kind and caring older brother back.
  • Midway through the Palace, after Madarame's confession is publicized on TV, Yusuke thanks the Phantom Thieves from the bottom of his heart for getting involved, more or less claiming that he owes them his life and wishes to repay this debt, starting off by returning Light Yagami back to his former self.
  • After Kira's been defeated, and he's been reduced to pathetically begging for the Phantom Thieves to give him back his Treasure so he can remain and continue his work, he delivers this moment that proves that, even though he is a monster, there is a heart in him somewhere:
Kira/Shadow Light: Then... How am I going to protect Sayu?
  • We see how Light is after he's undergone his change of heart. He's a sobbing wreck who apologizes to Sayu over and over. And the Yagami siblings just sit there in his room in the dark, hold on to each other as they're finally reunited. And Kira is gone from the world.
  • Whether Raye Penber or Naomi Misora realize it or not, the Phantom Thieves had just saved their lives, and not a moment too soon. Raye was just a day away from death. And the narrative even goes on to state that Raye and Naomi, by the end of the year, will be Happily Married.
  • Unlike Kamoshida and Madarame, Light's change of heart is similar to the Phantom Thieves' Mementos Targets, mainly thanks to Sayu begging him not to turn himself over to the police because not only will it hurt his father to have to arrest his own son, but Sayu would also lose her older brother. On the plus side, however, the only way the police will believe that Light is Kira is if he uses the Death Note, and the odds of that happening are next to none.
  • Even though he was a serial killer up until recently, fans love Light's new character following his change of heart and his subsequent Persona awakening: he's Brilliant, but Lazy, and he no longer cares about how his classmates feel about him. He's finally free to be his own person, rather than pretend to be the perfectionist society wanted him to be if he wanted to get ahead in life.
  • Sayu and Light are shown to be even closer than they were in Death Note canon after Light gains his Persona, as noted by Soichiro.
Whenever Soichiro joined at dinner, Light's conversations were always clipped and factual, only responding when talked to. Now, he was actively part of the conversation.
  • Makoto finally gets the hug she deserves. During the Kamoshida arc, she basically has everyone tell her she is useless, and Ann's hostility because of Poor Communication Kills doesn't help matters. Light is the only person to give her support throughout the whole damn thing.
  • The Phantom Thieves' acceptance of Light into their ranks. They know he's Kira. But they don't longer care, because he is no longer Kira. As Ren put it best, he's just Light Yagami now.
  • Light telling Makoto that he thinks that her father would have approved of the Thieves.
