  • Chapter 4 gives us the first kiss between the couples of Syrus and Annie and Bastion and Violet.
  • Chapter 5 has Rosa getting her first kiss with Hassleberry.
  • When the new couples return and confirm that they are in fact couples now the whole room starts clapping for them.
  • Jaden revealing that he does know what "fiancée" means, leading to a love confession between him and Alexis and their first kiss.
• Summer Love, Summer Fears
  • Chapter 2 has the group recreating the "King of the World" scene from Titanic, which includes a few touching moments.
    • Alexis declares that she'll be the Queen of Games to go with Jaden as the King.
    • Hassleberry and Rosa declare their love for each other.
    • Syrus says he'll defeat Zane someday and his brother gives his support to Syrus.
  • In chapter 4 Atticus invites Chazz to spend the summer at the Rhodes household, much to Chazz's surprise.
  • Syrus trying to comfort Annie, who fainted, after getting some advice from his friends.
  • Annie giving Hassleberry's father a hug for his military service.
  • Hassleberry's father thanks Syrus for knocking some sense into his son's head about how he was acting.
  • Chapter 5 has everyone rallying around Chazz after he has a breakdown over his being disowned by his brothers.
    • The Ojamas clue in everyone and Chazz doesn't offer more than a halfhearted "traitors" about it.
    • The adults instantly get to work on getting Chazz into the custody of the Rhodes parents. Why? Because he's a kid that's been treated with undeserved cruelty and no child deserves that.
  • At the end of chapter 5 Jaden and Alexis are having a Sleep Cute where they're having a dream duel.
  • Chapter 6 has Violet sharing the story of how her last boyfriend wound up cheating on her, breaking her heart. Bastion's mother, Katai, is nothing but sympathetic and shares a story about how something similar happened to Bastion's father Hiro; as a way to say You Are Not Alone to the poor girl.
  • Chapter 7 has Bastion declaring he doesn't want to be anything like Mike was towards Violet and Violet reassures him by telling him that how she feels with Bastion is nothing like how she ever felt with Mike, even at their most affable.
  • Chapter 9 has Hassleberry assuring Rosa she doesn't have to act tough all the time when airsickness starts getting to her, noting that even trained soldiers have to deal with getting sick.
    • Some turbulence leads the two to having an Accidental Kiss, not that either mind that much. Then they get to enjoy a Sleep Cute.
  • Chapter 10 has Zane telling Syrus that You Are Better Than You Think You Are and could defeat Zane himself in a duel... someday.
  • Chapter 11 gives Syrus and Annie a Sleep Cute at the end.
  • Chapter 12 has the Rhodes parents reveal that they're trying to gain custody of Chazz and everyone talking him through his low self-image of himself by affirming that they're True Companions instead of the Fair Weather Friends he had in Obelisk blue.
  • Chapter 13 has Chazz accepting that he'll soon have a family that actually cares about him. And Jaden telling him that he was never alone.
  Chazz: The Chazz... doesn't have to stand alone anymore.
  Jaden: You never did.

  • Chazz reveals that his birth mother died because she refused cancer treatments while she was pregnant with him and he blames himself for her death because of that. His friends console him and convince him that her act was one of love to bring him into the world, not some tragedy he condemned her to.
  • In chapter 16, has Watapon and Usagi trying to comfort Violet and Syrus after Annie faints and it turns out to be worse than the last times.
    • Zane and Jaden tell a white lie about Syrus being Annie's fiancée so he can ride with her in the ambulence.
  • In chapter 18 Kisara pulls some strings so the group can stay with Annie after visiting hours are over, feeling it is the best thing for all of them.
