As a Heartwarming page, all spoilers are left unmarked.

The Book:

  • Rose Parker writing articles about the children of the Delegation, fighting so that at least the youngest inmates in the Aperture, those who came there as children, can finally leave it. Bonus points for succeeding.
    • Sonya`s friend Nicole being very giddy and happy at the chance of starting a new life. Thinking about her new identity and her plans for her freedom. While also being upset Sonya isn't given the same mercy, showing her clear care for her friend.
    • Those plans being to buy a pint of milk all for herself, go out dancing, walk around the city all night just because they can. Showing that despite being one of the children of a tyrannical regime Nicole is a decent young woman with completely wholesome hopes and dreams. Dreams she can now finally follow.
    • Sonya having saved up a can of sliced peaches, Nicoles favorite sweet for the occasion, despite the Aperture only receiving such luxuries once a year. Nicole doesn't even want her to open it, saying that outside she can buy as many as she wants quite easily, but Sonya insists on them sharing it to celebrate the occasion.
    • Before Nicole their friends Ashley and Shona were also allowed to leave, Sonya being happy for them getting another chance in life.

  • Even in the hopeless life in the Aperture there are some moments of happiness for the inmates:
    • Nikhil having become a father figure for Sonya, the betrothed of his son Aaron who died during the Rebellion.
    • The inmates hold regular weddings for the couples amongst each other, several of Sonya`s older friends having gotten married.
    • Sonya helping the people in the ghetto with their technical problems, often without asking for anything in return.
    • As they have no cemetery to mourn the people, they`ve lost the people of the Aperture carved their names into bricks in the tunnel connecting the buildings. Holding regular candle vigils for them. For extra heartwarming, while the resource shortages inside the ghetto usually mean everything gets recycled, the wax left behind from the vigils is left untouched so as not disturb the shrine.
    • Several people play regular football matches to keep themselves occupied. Some other inmates also offer courses for various things to help their neighbors through their boredom.
    • The widows and widowers from building 4 allowing Sonya to move in with them after she was attacked by a man trying to rape her in her old apartment.

  • Alexander being willing to use what influence he has within the Triumvirate to give Sonya a chance at securing her freedom. In part to make up for selling out her family to the rebels, in part because he still cares for her.

  • Rose Parker protecting Sonya from the crowd the first time she leaves the Aperture. She also later helps her along in finding Grace.
    • Rose Parker in general, not only fighting for the children of the Delegation but also smuggling newspapers into the Aperture for the inmates. Later, helping Sonya to find Grace and eventually expose Easton Turner. In the often cynical and depressing world of Poster Girl she, alongside Nicole, is a true light in the darkness.

  • Emily Knocks, despite being a mercenary hacker and a bit of a troll, is honestly willing to help Sonya with her task to find Grace, while also buying her a meal and a new dress on the way. She also seeks the data on everyone’s insight so she can delete it and make sure no one ever abuses it again. Showing she has quite high standards for the world she lives in.
    • She also set up her apartment security in such a way that Sonya, and only Sonya could enter after her death. Entrusting the data to Sonya so she may find Grace.
    • Sonya honoring Knock`s last request after finding Grace and using the data to expose Easton Turner.

  • Sonya is going to insane lengths to find Grace, including risking her life several times. Why? Not actually to secure her freedom but to make up for being the one who snitched out Grace in the first place.
    • She is actually determined to decline Alexander`s offer, until she sees who she needs to find. Once she reads Grace`s name she instantly resolves to do it.
    • When the Ward family receives a, supposed, phone call from Grace Sonya becomes hopeful she might succeed at redeeming herself for what she did. Alas it is merely a Hope Spot.
    • Alexander being willing to risk his life and position in the Triumvirate to help Sonya find Grace, eventually getting fired for his troubles but still pressing on.
    • After finding out the truth about Grace Naomi Proctor offers to drive Sonya, and Alexander, everywhere, even towards the border with other sectors. Being given the chance to escape her old life completely. Sonya declines though, resolving to risk getting sent back to the Aperture permanently (or worse) to personally tell Grace`s family what happened to their daughter.
    • When her first attempt to reach the Ward family fails Sonya becomes desperate, thankfully one of the guards of the Aperture, Williams has taken some sympathy on her, passing a message to Alexander that allows Sonya to blackmail Easton Turner into releasing her after all.
    • Finally meeting the Ward family again Sonya tells them everything, including her own role in their daughter’s death. While they rejected her apology, thinking her remorse is fake, Sonya took actual responsibility for her actions.

  • Alexander and Sonya eventually make peace, forgiving each other for what they did during and leading up to the rebellion.

  • When she is finally allowed to leave the Aperture Sonya`s friends tell her that while they do feel some jealousy, they are happy for her.

  • Sonya finally being able to leave the Mega City and her role as Poster Girl behind, settling down in a place called Desert Eden, a place where she can be just Sonya, where she can finally be her own person.
    • Sonya`s new boss Ellie instantly taking a liking to her being confident and crafty, her new coworkers appreciating her skill at rolling cigarettes and card games.
    • Sonya even enjoys the annoying parts of her new home because they remind her of her new freedom.
    • She also stays in contact with some of her friends in the Mega City, including Alexander and Nikhil, sending them letters and pictures. Showing that while she embraces her new life, she still cares for the people she left behind.
