  • Satsuki's brief approval when she sees Ryuko and Mako together in some newspaper articles and her explaining how different their relationship is compared to the relationships her mother and Nui tend to have given how Ryuko decided to allow Mako to take her to the Safe Zone. It helps show that Ryuko does have more humanity than she lets on.
    • This gets taken even further in Chapter 17. Turns out, Mako didn't request that Ryuko come to the Safe Zone to see it at all. Ryuko asked if Mako could take her there as a date. Ryuko's shy and downright adorkable demeanor when asking just adds to how touching it is.
  • A smaller moment, but after Satsuki defeats Mako, Ryuko carries her to her personal quarters and leaves her in Soroi's care, all without even sparing Satsuki a glance. Considering how obsessed she's been with seeing her elder sister dead, this moment helps show that part of her loves Mako more than she hates Satsuki.
  • Satsuki seeing that the Nudists have captured Ryuko. Her response? Immediately try to save her. Despite everything that's happened between them, she still loves her sister enough that her first instinct upon seeing her life threatened is to try and save her.
  • Ira comforting Mako in Chapter 14. His words to her are particularly moving:
Ira: Thank you Mankanshoku. It has been a pleasure meeting you. If this academy had even one more of you, things might have ended differently here.
  • Nui of all people gets one in Chapter 17 when she meets up with and hugs Soroi after so long apart, and it's even stated that Ragyo orders her children not to show affection for their servants, yet Nui, who takes the most after her mother, does so anyway.
  • Junketsu, despite his actions leading to many problems later given what Ryuko would become, did try his best to undo the damage caused to Ryuko by Ragyo's Mind Stitching. It shows how much he genuinely cherishes her that he'd be willing to go against the will of his race just to try and save her.
  • After Satsuki sees what Ira was mutated into, her immediate instinct is to try and save him, showing that she cares for her team as much as they care for her.
  • Nui defying her mother's wishes and undoing the Mind Stitching done to Ryuko because she wants to save her sister as much as Satsuki and Soroi do.
    • Before then, when Uzu warns her that Nudist Beach is about to kill Ryuko, she immediately stops fighting him and Tsumugu to rush to her sister's rescue.
  • The ending of Chapter 22, where after spending the entire story at each others' throats and actively attempting to kill one another, the Kiryuin sisters manage to make peace among themselves for a brief time and engage in a tender Group Hug.
  • After Nui gets annoyed by how lame Ryuko and Satsuki's names for things are, the two elder Kiryuin sisters share a genuine laugh for the first time in years.
  • When Ryuko is reunited with Junketsu, she's at first absolutely livid about him being torn apart before she hugs him and makes sure he's okay. When the two part, they both affirm their love and care for each other.
    Junketsu: We love you.
Ryuko: (after hugging Junketsu one more time) Love you too.
  • Soroi brings up that Ryuko wasn't always bad, reminiscing on a time when she saved him from a Club President, only unleashing her wrath on the kidnapper after she ensured Soroi's safety. Even at her absolute worst, she had nothing but care for the man who took it upon himself to be the father she never had.
  • In Chapter 24, when Uzu takes partial responsibility for Ryuko becoming a tyrant, Ryuko makes it clear that she believes that the only people to blame are herself and her mother, even thanking Uzu for being a better friend than she deserved. Despite her attempts to cut ties with him, Uzu makes it clear that he's not abandoning her, and it ends with them reintroducing themselves to each other and sharing a heartfelt laugh.
  • Even with every horrible thing that came out of it, Ryuko reassures Junketsu that if he hadn't brought her back, she never would have come to appreciate her friendship with Uzu, nor would she have ever fallen in love with Mako, and that despite the bad that came from it, she'll always be grateful to him for saving her.
  • It's a small moment, but when repairing Junketsu in Chapter 25, Ryuko, without any hesitation, calls Isshin "Dad".
  • When Mako goes to get everyone snacks, she makes sure to get something for Nui as well. Despite knowing how much the youngest Kiryuin utterly loathes her, Mako doesn't seem to hold any ill will about it.
  • Ryuko's attempt to break up with Mako doesn't go through, as Mako lets her know that she loves her despite all her flaws and makes it clear that she will help her become a better person come hell or high water.
  • When Nui tries to kill Mako, Ryuko not only does everything she can to protect her, but outright declares out loud that she loves her. After the danger concludes, even Mako seems shocked and touched by Ryuko's declaration of love.
  • As they escape Nudist Beach headquarters with Isshin and Satsuki's help, Mako points out that the trip back to Honnouji is almost like a family road trip for Ryuko, something she never got to experience.
