Heartwarming / Blue's Big City Adventure

Go To

Blue Big City Adventure is not only a celebration of the franchise's 25th anniversary, but also a tribute to its actors, so heartwarming moments are inevitable.

  • Brand New Day
    • At the beginning of the song, both Mr. Salt and Tickety Tock happily greet the viewer, saying it's good to see them.
    • The song alone is Josh singing about how his life in the yellow house feels like a dream, and it makes him very happy.
      • Josh sings about the dream he was having while talking objects sing in chorus in the background, then implying that the waking world seemed better than the dream.
    • Everyone in the house stops to listen to Josh singing and join in, although Josh seems a little shy at first, he quickly becomes happy to let them join in.
    • Mr Salt preparing breakfast for Josh, and then Josh greeting him, Tickety Tock and Slippery Soap with a hi-5.
    • Everyone (including the felt friends) dancing and playing instruments together while Josh sings and Blue try out her new dance.
  • Mr. Salt telling Josh that he is a star when he gets nervous about his singing and comforting him when he seems nervous. He also doesn't wait a second before calling skidoo express to help Josh and writing down the address on his notebook.
    • He also expresses that he loves Josh by being sad for the entire period he is away, while he is happy to see him go, he is still sad about being distant from his friend.
  • Mailbox singing the song Mailtime in chorus with Mr. Salt, Tickety and Slippery.
  • Everyone celebrating that Josh got the audition with Rainbow Puppy, like a family would.
  • Before Josh gets on the Skidoo Express, he tells the viewer that he doesn't know if he can do it without them and asks if they can go with him, when the answer is positive he celebrates.
  • Even though he's not a close friend, Skidoo Express still wishes Josh the best of luck for the audition and expresses his desire for the guy to achieve his dream.
  • Noticing that Josh is having a Sensory Overload, Blue jumps into Josh's lap to make sure he's okay, the guy is quick to comfort his Puppy about it by saying that they'll be fine.
  • In general, although Josh is clearly seen as strange, none of the real-world citizens are intentionally rude to him and he is treated with respect, even though The people are clearly confused with him.
  • On Our Way
    • The percussionists letting Josh play with them
    • Crosses with Funny Moments. Josh and Blue, thinking that the NYC Mailbox is alive, say it's her turn to sing, but because she's not sentient nothing happens and Josh just assumes she's shy and says when she's ready maybe they can sing together later. This small moment of kindness is what brings her to life.
    • Josh, Blue and the pretzel girl handing out free pretzels to people on the street.
    • Josh and Blue during the song find two men fighting and convince the two to stop the argument and start dancing with them.
    • Josh finds himself surrounded by several people encouraging him to dance and seems moved by their kindness and encouragement, then he encourages everyone to join him while dancing.
  • When Josh is about to panic, Blue is quick to try to get him to calm down, asking him to sit down for a second.
  • When Mr. Salt thinks he's going to have to go to New York alone, both Mr. Pepper, Slippery, and Tickety point out that they are family (and that Josh and Blue are part of the family), meaning Mr. Salt wouldn't need to go on this mission alone.
    • Also, Mr. Salt's dream is to be Josh's hero.
  • A slightly confused Josh asks a non-sentient trash can if he knows where the handy-dandy notebook is, and when someone throws a coffee cup out in front of him he's quick to say that it was rude and ask if the cup is ok. And then once again Josh's kindness brings both objects to life.
  • When Josh loses hope, Blue comes up with the idea for them to play Blue's Clues. Although in the end it doesn't work out as well as they thought, it was still sweet that she did it to stop Josh from panicking.
  • Josh watched emotionally as Ali Stroker sang the song planets, and then joining her. At the end of the song they are both laughing and saying that the other is amazing, she even teaches Josh how to do a singing exercise to calm his anxiety.
  • Steve meeting his (now adult) old viewers again when he answers the door. The line "you got so big" will definitely make long-time fans tear up in joy.
    • In the same vein, Joe seems extremely happy to see them, and was welcomed with open arms by the fans, even if his era was a bit controversial. With some fans even complaining about his lack of participation in the film.
    • A small one: Joe has a poster of Boris in the present store, implying that even though he doesn't have as much time to spend with his duck, he still thinks about him.
    • Although it is quick, and is soon overshadowed by Joe's sarcastic moment, when Steve becomes sad after his plan fails, Joe is quick to comfort his older brother and tells him that his plan was great.
  • Before "That's my song", Josh has a panic attack in front of Taboo who stops his street presentation to help him calm down, teaching him to do a breathing exercise and encouraging him to sing.
    • During the song, several people join him to sing about how beautiful life is.
  • That's my song
    • Steve and Joe are able to recognize Josh and Blue's voices even from a big distance.
    • Surrounded by his new friends, Josh sings how he feels in a potpourri to be in such a colorful world with so many nice people. When Josh says goodbye, everyone starts dancing happily with happiness when they see the trees taking him to the last clue.
  • When Josh can't find the last clue, a woman around his age points to him where the clue is, saying she has been looking for clues her whole life, and then petting Blue.
  • Even though Rainbow Puppy doesn't want any of the singers as her stars, she still recognizes that they are amazing, even if they aren't Josh.
  • The Taxi Cab is nothing but nice to Josh, even though he clearly doesn't understand the boy's behavior. Telling him they were already on the way, giving advice and offering to take him for a drive around New York City to his favorite places, When Josh gets out of the car he takes a minute to wish him good luck.
    • Steve and Taxi Cab having a quick moment of connection as they realize they are quite similar.
    • Josh's reaction to realizing they took a trip from Storybook World to New York just to help him.
  • Steve and Joe expressing how proud they are of Josh when they make it to the theater and then comforting him when he finds out he failed.
  • The trio of objects that Josh brought to life follow him throughout the city just to thank him for his kindness. They reveal that Josh's kindness and charisma is what brought them to life. On the stage version of Happiness is Magic they are included among the people who participated in the show.
  • Mr. Salt encouraging Josh to sing in front of him, even though he won't be performing in Rainbow Puppy's play. Of course it was all a plan by the little salt shaker to let Rainbow Puppy see him, but that just makes it all the more heartwarming.
    • In the same vein, Steve and Joe encouraging him to do the same and remembering him of Taxi Cab's advice.
  • Happiness Is Magic
    • Before the song starts, an instrumental version of Brand New Day can be heard in the background.
    • Mr. Salt encouraging Josh to take his time, while Blue reminds him of the exercises Ali Stroker and Taboo taught him.
    • As Josh prepares to perform his audition, he asks the audience if they believe he can do it. His touched reaction and response is a sign that our answer is a resounding 'yes'.
Josh: Thanks for always believing in me.
    • Joe and Steve join Josh during the song, playing guitar and piano and helping Mr. Salt record the video to broadcast to the city.
    • Josh coming to the conclusion that he wasn't just lucky and in fact deserved to express himself, be happy and magical, after spending the entire movie doubting himself.
    • "Josh’s happiness IS magic!"
    • Rainbow Puppy and the director are happy to see Josh's broadcast, knowing he is the star they were looking for.
  • At the end of the film, although he seems a little bothered by the viewer not realizing the film was over, Josh still thanks the viewer for his help, when singing an alternate version of the original series "So Long" song.
