Headscratchers / Star★Twinkle Pretty Cure

  • Why is Lala considered an adult?
    • This part honestly bugs me. Since Lala acts way too much like Liko whenever she's not jealous or puking her guts out. And since this is Precure I cannot imagine any reason for such the writers to have made such a decision. Since any conceivable reason (culture, war, lifespan) is likely to be censored especially after Hugtto.
    • Ultimately comes down to Willing Suspension of Disbelief when it comes to culture. It could be that this is Lala's first venture to a planet where she interacts with its inhabitants (since it violates intergalactic law to do so), so she lacks the knowledge of how to converse with other life forms, as shown when she requires Fuwa's magic to be able to understand Earth language but Plunce can speak Japanese just fine. Additionally, the first person she meets is Hikaru, a girl who, despite being around Lala's age in Earth years, acts very much like her antithesis AND became a Pretty Cure against all odds. Frankly, anyone would be wondering how to deal with her upon the first meeting. As for any possible censoring, nothing official has been confirmed as of yet.
    • For what it's worth, becoming an adult can be as simple as hitting an age where you're legally responsible for your own actions as opposed to your parents/guardians (many countries set this age at 18. Japan is currently at 20 but this will reduce to 18 around 2022). We haven't seen any other members of Lala's species but given that they find books/writing primitive and learn from AI, it's possible that biologically, Lala's species isn't much different from humans development-wise but the age that an individual is considered an adult is much lower due to a more efficient education system.
      • This seems to be the answer, now that we've learned more about her culture. Lala is 13 and on Saman that means she's an adult now. She doesn't have the emotional maturity expected of an adult, but neither do many legal adults on Earth, as anyone who's worked with college students can tell you.
    • If you wanted to see it in a more scientific way, perhaps Lala's planet orbits it's sun faster than the Earth orbits its own sun, making their years shorter and possibly faster by comparison. Lala could be in her 20s on her home planet but upon arriving on Earth, her age would be 13.
    • You're assuming she's actually considered an adult on her world, as opposed to simply exaggerating her standing to look more important. Until we see her world for ourselves, her claim should probably be taken with a grain of salt.
    • In her culture her age might not even be 13 at all, since all we know that she is 13 in human terms, but not in whatever measurement of time in her own culture.
    • Out-of-universe, she's considered an adult to justify her having her own rocket and being able to use it for arbitrary unsupervised interstellar voyages.
  • How did Blue Cat know that the girls were the Precure?
    • Was she snooping around on Earth and saw all of them transform?
    • Because she is Bakenyan.
  • So does Blue Cat have another form or something? She looks much more human than her species.
    • Yes, she has an alien form in addition to her three humanoid forms.
  • Why did Yanyan also turn into a Mermaid with the other cures when she is already an Aquatic Creature based alien?
    • Maybe she just wanted to feel included.
