Headscratchers / Pippi Longstocking

  • Pippi on the South Seas: Just HOW did the pirates manage to subdue and capture Efraim Longstocking anyway? Sure, he's never been portrayed as equal to his daughter in terms of physical strength and seems to be outright missing her ability to bend reality, but he's still superhumanly strong and durable. It makes sense that he's severly weakened by the time he's rescued, but that is after months of starvation and dehydration (not to mention the mental toll it must take to see your crew left to die stranded on an island and then spend months isolated with the only human interaction you get being from your captors abusing you). Efraim is consistently shown to be very kind and caring soul, so it is possible the pirates got him to comply by threatening his crewmates, but even then there is not enough evidence to prove that that's what happened.
