Headscratchers / Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah

  • Why was Emi even helping Wilson and Grenchiko at all when she herself is Japanese? Before her Heel–Face Turn, she was actively helping two terrorists in trying to wipe out her own country.
    • Because Emi was part of the Equal Environment of Earth Union, who wanted all nations on Earth to be EQUAL. She had no idea her partners wanted to outright destroy Japan instead of just weaken it.
  • Futurians needed to bring 1992 era humans along in their mission to 1944... why exactly? They do everything themselves anyway and they already know from that book where they can find Godzillasaurus.
    • Mainly to let them witness the events that would come. No one hasn't seen Godzilla before he mutated except those soldiers.
    • They needed to establish contact with 20th century humans to whom they could then later sell a computer to in which to save themselves from King Ghidorah. They would then effectively rule Japan and guide it to the point where they would running a future economic superpower. Classic introduce a problem, and then sell the solution.
  • No matter how you view the time travel, you get some fridge logic. If you believe that the Futurians successfully rewrote history, then you have to wonder why the world still remembers Godzilla after he's been erased from the past. If you believe that the Futurians instead create a Stable Time Loop, then you realize that surely they'd be aware their plan was doomed, because there would be clear historical records of Ghidorah's defeat and Godzilla's resurrection. Of course, somehow the old man Emmie enlists to build Mecha-Ghidorah has never heard of the battle, but that just raises further questions.
    • It's branching timelines, like Avengers: Endgame. At the same time, it still didn't erase the second Godzilla in the new timeline, they just changed how he was created. Originally, the second Godzilla was created by the H-bomb tests in the 40s, though still a separate entity from the 1954 one. He just didn't awaken until 1984. But when they changed it by teleporting the Godzillasaurus, in the new branch timeline every Heisei film takes place in, the Russian sub created the second Godzilla instead, thus allowing The Return of Godzilla and Godzilla vs. Biollante to still happen. That's why they remember Godzilla and how Biollante is able to be referenced in later movies.
  • Why did the Futurians even bother go back to 1992 to gain permission from the Japanese government? Why didn't they just go from 2204 to 1945, transport the Godzillasaurus and drop the Dorats, travel to 1992 and make their first appearance to the Japanese people then with King Ghidorah? What did they have to gain from getting the Japanese government's endorsement?
    • Did you miss the part where the Futurians were also trying to turn the Japan of 1992 into their puppets, and control them by selling them the use of one of their computers to save themselves from Ghidorah? So they made introductions first and then returned with the monster they had created.
