  • Bligh is expected to sleep with one of King Tynah's wives (as part of Polynesian custom of kings sharing wives as a sign of respect), but is uncomfortable with the idea. He tells Christian to wait five minutes and then fetch him on some ship's business, leading to this exchange:
Bligh: What demands my immediate attention?
Christian: Well it could wait until tomorrow, sir.
Bligh: What is it, damn you?
Christian: The ship is sinking, sir.
    Bligh: Good.
    • King Tynah's wife is also plainly irritated at Bligh for not giving her any action.
    • The Tahitian women also gleefully cheer when Bligh and the wife come back up on deck from his quarters.
  • King Tynah asks Bligh if Captain James Cook is alive, having heard that he was killed by the Hawaiians. Bligh assures Tynah that Cook is alive and well.
    • When the court-martial asks Bligh why the Tahitians would be so concerned about Cook, he explains that since Cook was the first British officer they ever encountered, the Tahitians believe him to be a god and that the British are all descended from him.
    • The court-martial asks Bligh if the Tahitians ever performed "indecent" rituals, Bligh awkwardly explains that their gods are satiated by "the joining of men and women." (Cut to a scene of the Tahitians enthusiastically performing a sex ritual.)
