• Dr. Baxter's burping colorful bubbles due to the gastric acids machinery helping him digest food is so bizarre it can easily become chuckle-worthy.
• After Bella and Duncan meet and start regularly having sex, Bella wonders why people aren't having sex regularly.
• Bella's lack of social skills after she is resurrected tend to come off as this, such as puking her food on the table and threatening to punch a baby that is annoying her.
• Likewise, Duncan's Manchild behaviour is this, with him throwing temper tantrums whenever things do not go his way.
• During a dinner that Bella grows bored with, Duncan tells her to stick to three phrases when responding: “How marvelous!”, “Delightful”, and “How did they get the pastry so crisp?” Their guest mentions that her father might not survive his illness. Bella’s response:

• As Bella is reading a book on the ship, Duncan becomes annoyed that she is reading more, and throws the book away, only for Martha to hand her another book. And then Duncan throws it away as well.
