Fridge Brilliance

  • It seems odd that Georgie never suffered any consequences (legal or otherwise) for beating up the other undertakers at the end of "Flip Flap Flop," even if they totally deserved it, apart from spending an hour or two in the town jail before the Funns bail her out — especially given how many Continuity Nods and Call Backs the show has. Then you remember, Georgie's the mayor's secretary and good friend. Given how beloved both Mayor Desmond and Georgie are by most of the town, it's pretty likely that he was able to have the whole thing swept under the rug.
  • Eric being asked to be the best man at Wavering and Desmond's wedding isn't just because he's a Parody Sue beloved by all. Remember the events of "Tempting Fête"? Eric's the reason they got together in the first place!
  • The Smart Coffin designed using Eric's voice, name, and disposition goes into denial and then suffers a complete breakdown when faced with someone—Antigone—who refuses to be cheered up in a bad situation. This is exactly how Eric himself ended up in "The Sunshine Treatment" earlier in Season 3.
  • Rudyard is such a dink because he's got (or at least, had) a monopoly on mortuary services. He can get away with his behaviour because no matter how much people dislike him, they (or, rather, their living relatives) have to patronize his business eventually. Until Eric Chapman comes along and brings in some competition.

Fridge Horror

  • A more comedic form of Fridge Horror; in an early episode, Rudyard has a nightmare about being trapped in a coffin with a relentlessly cheery Chapman and trying desperately, but failing, to escape. This could actually happen to him thanks to the Smart Coffin, a coffin AI designed using Eric's voice that's meant to help in the event that someone is buried alive. A relentlessly cheery Chapman in a coffin.
