Fridge / Doctor Who S30 E6 "The Doctor's Daughter"

  • Jenny gets better after apparently "dying" because she was in the first fifteen hours of her regeneration cycle.
  • Jenny ultimately retained much of what made the Doctor the Doctor, which was demonstrated by her Heroic Sacrifice near the end. Given that, perhaps she didn't need as much knowledge about warfare implanted into her brain as initially implied, either.
  • One of the reasons the Doctor may have been so harsh? Jenny would have been one hell of a walking PTSD Trigger. She's a born soldier, and he still couldn't come to terms with what he did as the War Doctor at that point. A spunky Action Girl? Well, many of his Companions qualify, but there had to be a few flashbacks to Ace in there (since Seven was definitely a Parental Substitute and the closest she got to a dad), doubly so if we go for the idea she was being trained as a Time Lady after the series ended. The meta about the actress could have fed into it; Five was one of his gentlest, nicest incarnations but had chronic bad luck and most of his serials ended with a high body count. Add the implications that Susan was killed off somewhere in the Time War. Donna and Martha had no idea how deep they stepped in it when they teased him.
  • The discovery that the war has only been going on for a week explains why neither side has managed to wipe the other out, despite the fairly small numbers and limited scope of the battle zone.
  • A sampling of the Doctor's DNA resulted in a clone who was blonde and female, showing that the potential for such was in his genetic makeup. Three changes later...
