Empire State is a 2013 crime film starring Dwayne Johnson and Liam Hemsworth.
Based on a True Story, the film follows an armored car depot guard (played by Hemsworth) who conspires to rob his workplace, along with the attempts of law enforcement (led by The Rock) attempting to catch/stop him.

- Caper Rationalization: Chris doesn't think anything of stealing to give his dead partner's family the life insurance insurance that his crooked bosses refused to pay out. Eddie on the other hand doesn't need a rationalization beyond his desire to have the money.
- The Friend Nobody Likes: It doesn't seem like anyone in the movie, including Chris, actually likes Eddie, and we don't see much reason why they should.

- With Friends Like These...: Eddie. More or less every bad thing that happens in the movie, from Chris not being able to become a cop, to the fiasco of the final robbery, is caused by Eddie being stupid , careless and self-centered.
