Go To

Well folks, we’ve got a real humdinger of a game for you tonight! Hailing from Sakura High, we have our school with the best record of the regular season. Watch out for Shu Amiguchi, the best batter in the league, currently hitting .460! Challenging them are the ladies of Suzu High, trying to be the first women to qualify for the Koshien. Yuki Takamiya has the best ERA in all of Japan, and she is no slouch behind the plate either. Who will advance to the Koshien? It’s anyone’s game folks, and I recommend you stay until the bitter end!

Sentinels in the Outfield is a series of a fanfics by "Farva5" based on 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. Set in an Alternate Universe from the original game, the series follows the exploits of the baseball teams from Sakura High School and Suzu High School, and observes the journey of the players as the latter team makes it all the way to the Koshien finals.

The stories are as follows:

  • Sentinels in the Outfield: Sakura High's all-boys baseball team faces off against the all-girls team of Suzu High in order to progress to Koshien.
  • The Shot Heard 'Round Ayame Park: Ei Sekigahara faces off against his childhood friend Ryoko in a batting contest, with Iori Fuyusaka filling in as their catcher.
  • The Luckiest Man on the Face of the Earth: Keitaro Miura goes on a date with Natsuno Minami to watch a rival team in action.
  • Extra Innings: Shu Amiguchi takes Suzu High's captain, Yuki Takamiya, on a night out in town before her big game tomorrow.
  • Stealing Bases in the After Hours: Megumi Yakushiji has to retrieve her missing bag before the game tomorrow, getting help from Juro Kurabe who embarks on a wild night through town with her.

The premise was inspired by a chapter of What Leads You Here where Keitaro dreams of everyone living in a peaceful timeline where they play baseball together.

Tropes

  • Arc Villain: Juro and Megumi end up antagonizing a pair of thugs (one of them implied to be Wajima) on their adventure through the city at night. And the thugs pursue them the whole rest of the fic after Juro fakes a wager with them and Megumi breaks one of their noses.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Megumi may be gentle and kind, but she also won't hesitate to break a dude's nose if they threaten someone she loves.
  • Childhood Friends: Ei and Ryoko go way back just like they do in the original game. The second story explores their relationship through a friendly batting contest.
