Of Blackguards and Mercenaries
is a Worm/Overwatch crossover fanfic by RavensDagger.
Taylor Hebert's shard awakens with the ability to summon heroes from another dimension. She and her merry band of heroes, mercenaries, and wanted criminals have fun adventures in the merry land of Earth Bet where nothing bad ever happens.
Tropes:
- Big Sister Instinct: Tracer and Sombra both seem to view Taylor as a little sister figure.
- Dead Fic: It's last update was on Sep. 8, 2017. The thread was locked by December later that year.
- Defied. Began updating again on May 29, 2019.
- Do Not Adjust Your Set: The Empire identities are divulged this way by the fake Sombra.
- Drama-Preserving Handicap: Taylor at the moment seems to have a hard limit on the number of agents she can summon at one time.
- False Flag Operation: Taylor summons Reaper prior to the bank job (after Lisa contacts her about it) to rescue Lisa from PRT custody, and thus Coil while keeping anyone from realizing the Overwatch association.
- Frame-Up: Someone, presumably Coil, pretends to be Sombra to release the Empire's identities while framing Overwatch.
- Hollywood Hacking: Sombra can out-hack Dragon, completely taking control of PHO away from her. She also effortlessly stops Saint from deleting her.
- More than Mind Control: Taylor's power subtly affects the agents to make them more amiable to her, but otherwise seems to leave their personalities the same.
- She also seems to have a secondary power that makes her highly charismatic to other capes, which even seems to work on herself to a degree.
- Mysterious Past: Much as they try, the PRT is unable to find any concrete info on Overwatch, due to their extradimensional origins.
- One-Steve Limit: Taylor starts out calling herself Overwatch... of Overwatch. She later changes it to Oversight to avoid confusion.
- Second Super-Identity: Taylor creates a persona named "Nevermore" for when she needs to summon Talon agents like Reaper and Widowmaker.
- When not with the Talon group, Lisa has the new persona of "Major Obvious".
- Summon Magic: Taylor can summon the Overwatch playable characters and their weapons.
- Take That, Scrappy!: In-universe, Sombra banning XxVoid_CowboyxX from PHO permanently.
- Troll: Lisa gets revenge on Coil with Sombra's help... by completely ruining his anonymity and making it look like he's obsessed with Legend.
