My Hero Academia: USA
is a My Hero Academia fanfiction written by Heroeschamp, focusing on an American Hero School by the name of Morning Star Academy and the adventures of a fresh group of new students.
My Hero Academia: USA contains the following tropes:
- Abusive Parents: While not physically abusive, several of the parents of the students can be seen as emotionally abusive. Sarah's mother pushed her to become the bitch that she is and her father has never seen her before. Victoria's mother pushes her to be the best and it has led to some issues with her personality.
- Alternate Universe: As a fanfic, this story isn't canon to the actual MHA, obviously, and is to be treated as an alternate universe due to the multiverse theory.
- The B Grade: This trope applies to the rankings of the class. Morningstar ranks the students of the class and although Victoria gets placed in the top half of the students, her mother wants her to be number 1.
- The Breakfast Plot: In chapter 20 of the story, literally called "The Breakfast Club" Victoria, Jake, Maryanne, Hunter, and Fouzia are put in detention that turns into a life or death situation where they work together or they die.
- Character Focus: Heroeschamp definitely does this. He goes on for a few chapters laying down some backstory for a character that changes our opinion on them or causes a revelation to be made.
- Date Peepers: This sorta happens when Victoria and Matt are forced by their parents to go on a date together. Since their parents are famous superheroes, the paparazzi being the paparazzi reports it and the rest of the class finds out about it.
- Fake Relationship: Matt and Victoria are forced to go through with one to appease their parents.
- The Squad: In the story, there are two sets of cliques, the Kalebsquad, consisting of the four main friends Kaleb, Lex, Alexander, and Hunter before his betrayal and subsequent resignation from the school. Faith, Maryanne, Fouzia, Sarah, and Victoria are also affiliated with this group by proxy. The other group is the Aerosquad, consisting of Aerolynn, Jake, Cleo, Aurelie, Kevin, and Jarret.
- Flashback Heroeschamp uses flashbacks a few times to explain why a character acts the way they do or to set up for something else.
- Headbutting Heroes: Most of the class has this with another member of the class.
- Love Dodecahedron While not as confusing as the trope itself, it is still not as simple as a love triangle. Heroeschamp describes the romantic drama of the school as such "The love hexagon in his class was confusing to the boy. From what he gathered Matt liked Sarah but he was dating Victoria who seemed like to Hunter, who liked her back. However Sarah seemed to have feelings for Lex, and they seemed to be mutual which made Faith upset." It gets even more complicated when you take into consideration the hidden feelings that Jake has for Sarah and the fact that he and Victoria did the dirty together.
- Original Character: Every character in My Hero Academia: USA is actually an OC created by one of the readers. The only exceptions are Amanda Morningstar and the main villain of the story, Cyrus.
