- Adaptational Angst Upgrade: In her storyline, Android 21 is Dr. Gero's ex-wife turned into an android (or an android based on her model, it's never specified) who was programmed to feed on others. Here, she is confirmed to be a transformed person after she was captured trying to escape the army with her son and was intended to be in charge of the androids and a backup leader in case Gero died. However, her Majin Buu cells interfered with her programming making her focus her hunger instead.
- Adaptational Relationship Overhaul: Android 21 and Future Gohan never meet in their series. Here, they are allies.
- Back from the Dead: Future Gohan is resurrected through unknown means.
- Spared By Adaptation: Android 21 was not killed by the Spirit Bomb at the end of her story. Instead, she was sent to Future Trunks's timeline.
- Handicapped Badass: Gohan fights with Goku Black with one arm. Subverted in that he still loses.
- Android 21 and Goku Black fight each other while still recovering from previous fights. Subverted a bit as this causes both of their perspective loses against each other.
- One-Armed Warrior: Even after getting revived, he still has one arm.
