After months of imprisonment, Ty Lee is visited by Azula. The newly crowned Fire Lord has request: In exchange for her freedom, Azula wishes for Ty Lee to join her on one more mission against the Avatar. Azula needs help tracking him down to inact revenge upon him for killing her father.
Ash and Petals
is an Avatar: The Last Airbender fanfic by savage barbie. It's a 36-chapter Azula/Ty Lee Alternate Universe Fic where Ozai was killed by Aang during the war.
This fanfic provides examples of:
- Book Dumb: Ty Lee is not a dumb girl, but school has never been her strong suit. She only got through her academy days by copying off of Azula.
- A Child Shall Lead Them: Azula is made Fire Lord at only fourteen (and during war times at that). It does not help her already poor mental state taking such a role at her young age.
- Dark Fic: It's labeled as an Adventure/Horror fic for a reason. It handles much more overt mature themes then the cartoon, including intense violence and all kinds of abuse.
- For Want Of A Nail: The main one is that Aang not only killed Ozai, but he ran off after killing Ozai.
- Never Found the Body: At the start of the story, Ozai is only presumed dead as no one saw him die and there was no body left behind.
- Parental Incest: On top of being physically and emotionally abusive, Ozai was also sexually abusive towards Azula
- Self-Harm: Azula has a habit of picking at her skin until it bleeds.
- Sibling Murder: Double subverted. Azula successfully killed Zuko when she shot him with lightning. Or so, it's told. Zuko actually survived his injuries.
- Slash Fic: The story is themed around Azula and Ty Lee's romance. At the start, the two are exes who had only briefly dated during Book 3.
