The Memoirs of Elliott Witt is an Apex Legends fanfiction series written by HMSquared. In it, Crypto and Mirage's budding relationship takes a drastic turn after the former gets injured.
The series is written on an "as canon dictates" basis. This means that if something in canon fits the universe, a story is written to accompany it.
The series can be found here.
The Memoirs of Elliott Witt contains examples of:
- All Just a Dream: "Dropping Like Flies" reveals itself to be this in the last section.
- Ambiguous Situation:
- The orange eyes at the end of “Think You Know Suffering?“: a sign Revenant is alive, or a figment of Mirage’s imagination? The author’s note admits things could go either way.
- “Tell The Devil Fuse Sent You” hints toward the former: a shadowy figure disappears in a burst of orange, and Fuse shivers when it happens.
- Beware the Nice Ones: Mirage's personality is about the same as canon, but he gets nasty on a couple of occasions.
- After finding out Revenant was Crypto's near-killer, he snaps the simulacrum's neck.
- Mirage is snarkier than usual in "Mr. Witt." Cheryl Amacci, a Hammond Robotics employee, is genuinely scared of him at one point.
- Bilingual Bonus: Octane's Spanish dialogue is not translated. Additionally, "Vivir" means "to live."
- Coming-Out Story: Mirage comes out to Rampart in "My Already-Standing-In-Quicksand Sexuality Issues.”
- Green-Eyed Monster: Octane with a capital O. After a drunken one-night stand with Mirage in "Vivir," he becomes obsessed with him. The feeling isn't mutual in the slightest.
- Halloween Episode: "Corruption," which is based on the 2020 Fight or Fright event.
- He's Back!:
- Six entries after “Hold Me Here” (including a brief flashback cameo), Crypto officially returns as a ghost.
- Revenant makes a cameo in “Think You Know Suffering?” as a monster in Mirage’s dream. His overall status remains uncertain; see under Ambiguous Situation for more details.
- Killed Off for Real: Subverted and then played straight with Crypto.
- Late-Arrival Spoiler: Starting with "Mr. Witt," the series is unapologetic about revealing Crypto's fate.
- LGBT Awakening: Crypto's death makes Mirage realize he's not straight.
- Tranquil Fury:
- Mirage invokes this for the majority of "Mr. Witt."
- Wraith is also tranquil fury incarnate during "Caught You."
- Would Hit a Girl: While Mirage normally averts this trope, he punches Rampart in "I'm Probably The Best Legend." Lampshaded right before the fighting starts. For a moment, it didn’t set in. For a moment, Mirage told himself hitting women was wrong. But then his jaw set and he cracked his neck.
- You Can't Fight Fate: Crypto interprets his death like this. He decides that getting shot twice is the universe's way of telling him something.
