Dorothy MacCrank

The blue Fembot from the first game, she leaves Tumbleton in search of finding Rusty, feeling that he didn’t die in Vectron and is somewhere else, she takes the role of the playable character in contrast of her role as an NPC in SteamWorld Dig.

• Promoted to Playable: She used to be the shopper in the first game but she becomes playable in the second game.

Fen

A mysterious being made of electricity that was inside a statue of the Doomsday Cultists. They are a jerkass being related to Vectron technology but becomes the best friend of Dorothy after she beats them out of the statue.

• Deadpan Snarker: Their lines are mostly comprised of sarcastic comments.
• Heroic Sacrifice: Fen supposedly dies when they sacrifice themselves to save Dorothy and Rusty from certain death after defeating Rosie. It turns out they managed to survive and returns back in SteamWorld Heist.
• Jerk with a Heart of Gold: They are certainly not the nicest character of the game. Far from it, they enjoyed killing cultists back when they were stuck in the statue. As the game progresses, they become kinder to the point that they sacrifice themselves to save Dorothy and Rusty from the lava.
