Here is a list of characters from Life has No Meaning Without You.

Main Characters

     Maxine “Max” Caulfield

The protagonist from the original game, this fanfic version of Max Caulfield ended up getting hospitalized after sacrificing herself to save Chloe and Arcadia Bay, leading to a long and difficult journey into self help through her relationship and mental health.

  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Considering this run now has her in a coma and lost much mobility in her legs, her treatment at the hands of Jefferson is said to be sexual in this, giving her much greater PTSD over it.

  • Adaptational Dye-Job: Downplayed. She has regular auburn hair here, but later dyes it bright pink as hee new makeover.

  • Adaptational Jerkass: In this run, Maxine is much more stubborn, confrontational and prone to lash out in anger, particularly doing so to Victoria as she gives her a brutal verbal lashing over her treatment of Kate.

  • Adaptational Sexuality: The original game version is Bi-Sexual, having a determined romantic relationship with Chloe or Warren. Here, she is straight a lesbian.

  • Break the Cutie: Good GOD she gets through it multiple times through the story. Having been sexually abused and then made paralyzed, all after seeing her best friends shot beforehand, multiple times, leads Max being a shell of her former self and a mental wreck.

  • Driven to Suicide: Max has been having a series of PTSD induced nightmares and flashbacks over the events of the main game, and after breaking things off with Chloe (concluding "her" Chloe is dead). This eventually culminates in Max attempting to kill herself in the bathtub. The girls in her dorm try to rescue her, but it’s ultimately Chloe herself who breaks through to her.

  • Earn Your Happy Ending: After all her trails and tribulations, Max manages to get better and lives as a photography teacher in Blackwell Academy.

  • Lipstick Lesbian: To Chloe’s Butch Lesbian

     Chloe Price

Max’s best friends and girlfriends in the original game, Chloe here survives her fate in the game as Max sacrificed herself and is left in a coma, and Chloe has to struggle to understand and come to terms with Max’s sudden reappearance.

  • Broken Bird: Like her original game counterpart, Chloe never took the death of her father or Max abandoning her well, and was left a rebellious troublemaker.

     Kate Marsh

Max’s best friend and a quiet, bullied religious girl in Blackwell Academy who was victimized by Mark Jefferson, and enters a relationship with Victoria Chase.

  • Adaptational Sexuality: Kate’s sexuality isn’t made clear in the original game, while here it’s said she’s sapphic.

  • Even the Loving Hero Has Hated Ones: Kate shows to not have much anger or hatred towards anyone, not even towards Nathan or Mark Jefferson, her rapist. She does, however, make a stark exception towards Sean Prescott himself, showing a deep contempt towards the man for everything he has done.

  • Nice Girl: Even after all she’s been through, Kate is still soft spoken, polite and caring young woman who deeply respects her friends and family.

     Victoria Chase

A former mean girl in Blackwell Academy and frequent bully of Kate Marsh, Victoria became much better person after her kidnapping by Jefferson and enters a relationship with Kate.
