Allies
The Magician
The man who seems to run the Camp of the Cascarots; he teaches the protagonist a few tricks, and accepts donations from the Comte and him to help out the less-fortunate living there.
- The Mentor: A lesser version of the Comte, the Magician teaches a few early-game tricks nonetheless.
- What Happened to the Mouse?: His fate is never revealed after his final appearance at the Cour des Miracles.
Ireneo Funes
A Romani man who lives at the Camp; a good friend of the Comte's.
- Character Name Alias: Of a fashion; he's named after the main character of Jorge Luis Borges' tale, "Funes the Memorious".
- Master of Disguise: He is really S.W. Erdnase, and wears several disguises throughout the game.
- Roguish Romani: Although he's a Lovable Rogue, he's still a Romani thief and con-artist.
Chevalier de Saint-Georges
The finest swordsman in France, and an ally of Julie d'Aubigny.
- Defeat Means Friendship: After being bested in Bergerac, the Chevalier joins the Comte and the protagonist on their voyage to Corsica.
- Historical Domain Character: Named after and even looks the spitting image of the real Chevalier de Saint-Georges.
- The Mentor: Teaches the protagonist how to fence and duel properly.
- Public Domain Soundtrack: One of the real-life Chevalier's pieces, L'Amant Anonyme, Ballet no.6, plays any time the protgonist duels with him.
- Relationship Reveal: A very brief moment shows he's in one with Deborah.
- Royal Rapier: Uses one of these when teaching the protagonist, and any time the protagonist practices with him at the Camp.
The Lady, the General and the Reverend
A trio of well-to-do people, whom the Comte and protagonist can rely on whenever they need money.
- Gamebreaker: During the first chapter of the game, you can visit the barn and bet one hundred and fifty livres a round (providing you've defeated Sérannes already) for three hundred back, and you can make some serious money by repeatedly going there before visiting the Baronnesse for the first time. During chapter three, they can be visited at the theatre, where it's possible to bet five hundred livres a round and come out on top with a thousand. Rinse and repeat, and you can earn yourself thousands of livres before advancing the second half of the game's plot.
- Uncle Pennybags: All three of them have infinite money, allowing the Comte and protagonist to repeatedly visit them and play against them.
