Awesome / The Steve Wilkos Show

Go To

Steve Wilkos just oozes CMOAs in his own show.

  • The numerous Mama Bears and Papa Wolves who actually did something to protect their children/believe their child entirely.
  • Steve can be pretty quick-witted when he wants to be. Just one example from his first encounter with "Sir Timothy":
Steve: If YOU saw some guy smacking your daughter around, what would you do?
Tim: What would I do? I'd blow his brains out!
    Steve: With what, your mouth?
  • Wilkos roasting guests who refuse to take responsibility for their actions and can't take the heat.
Steve: Would you like a little belly rub? What did you think, that I would say, [lighter, mock sympathetic voice] "Oh Jessica, everything is gonna be all right. I'm gonna make all your problems go away." [normal voice] Well, guess what. I'm not your fairy godmother, I'm Steve, Steve the cop!
  • The whole first part of the episode "Steve Meets Mighty Joe". You can tell he's just having the time of his life while mercilessly humiliating this little punk for 15 minutes straight.
  • When Steve got caught up in his own fury, he threw a chair so hard its legs were impaled on the wall!
  • Whenever it turns out that the accused wasn't lying, the audience always responds with a massive cheer!
  • In "My Daughter Is A Worthless Mother," the aforementioned mother, while Steve was talking to her father (who was raising her children due to the mother's neglectful and abusive behavior), threatened to leave if she did not get the results to her lie detector test immediately. Steve's response? "...Start walking."note
  • "I'm Not a Molester, She's a Liar": A young man named Jerry took a lie detector test to prove that he hadn't molested his daughter. He passed, but his ex, Tameka, not only failed her test but displayed extreme deception, suggesting she made up the whole story.
Steve: [to Tameka] And truthfully, I think you were just trying to bust this guy's balls and put him through the ringer, and you would've put this guy in jail for NOTHING! [audience applause]
Tameka: My children told me that this is what happened.
Steve: I mean, don't we send enough innocent Black men to jail already? [thunderous audience applause and yells of "STEEEEEEVE"] And you- and you wanna send one more!
  • "Shocking Abuse, Did It Happen?" (October 27, 2016): A guest named DeAndre passed a lie detector test, proving that he had not abused or molested his twin daughters, as his ex, Marilyn, had alleged. Marilyn's reaction aroused suspicion: instead of showing relief, she insisted the test was faulty and was upset that Dan Ribacoff had not asked the specific questions she had requested that he ask. note  Steve mocked her mercilessly and hammed it up big time when it came time to reveal the results to Marilyn's LDT:
Steve: Because [holding the test results] she knows what's in here...
    Marilyn: I don't know.
Steve: So now she wants to- "Oh, you know, I gotta cling on something, but ooh, the Steve Wilkos show is wrong." No. The only person wrong is YOU. [audience applause] So Marilyn came here because she's telling the truth, she wants you to know, DeAndre, she's telling the truth.
    DeAndre: Right, right.
Steve: So we asked her: "Did you fabricate the story that DeAndre sexually molested your twin daughters?" [faces audience] Specific enough?
    Audience: Yes!
Steve: We asked her: "Did you fabricate the story that DeAndre physically abused your twin daughters?" Specific enough?
    Audience: YES!
Steve: "Did you coach your twins to accuse DeAndre of abusing them sexually?" SPECIFIC ENOUGH?
    Audience: YES!
Steve: "DID YOU COACH YOUR TWINS TO ACCUSE DEANDRE OF ABUSING THEM PHYSICALLY?" SPECIFIC ENOUGH?!
    Audience: YES!
Steve: AND THE RESULTS OF THOSE FOUR QUESTIONS... SAY... [turning to Marilyn] ...that you're a big fat liar. [audience applauds and yells "STEEEEEEEEVE"] She wants specifics. She wants specifics. She wants the TRUTH. The police closed this case, CPS found you [Marilyn] guilty, and I find you guilty, and you can GET YOUR ASS OFF MY STAGE! GOODBYE! [more audience applause as Marilyn exits stage]
  • In "Shocking Viral Video Exposed", two women posted a video making a mockery of child abuse and came on to supposedly say the video was a joke. They refused to come out, and Steve went backstage to rightfully call them out and remind them that their video can be taken seriously and that they lost a child because of it! They remain unaffected and unbothered by it, but watching Steve drag them for wasting his time and making a disgusting video made it so good to watch. Whether they passed or not, they're still deplorable people.
  • A couple came on the show with the main topic being cheating, but the wife soon reveals he also abuses their kids including one with autism. When the mother later states she stays with him for the kids (whom he abuses) the audience erupts in disgusted groans and Steve calls her out. The results come out, he cheated (obviously), but Steve doesn't really care and rightfully kicks the obnoxious couple off his stage.
  • In the episode, "Was She Raped?" A woman came on to take a lie detector test to prove she was innocent of cheating and that she wasn't raped either. Steve felt bad for her because of her dick-hole boyfriend, but she soon reveals not only was she not raped, but lied about said rape to the point she filed a false police report with a full description of a fictional captor! Steve was rightfully disgusted and openly admitted that after that he didn't care about the relationship or try to save it. Then the results came out: SHE NEVER CHEATED AND NEITHER DID HE! Steve rightfully calls out her dangerous stupidity that could've gotten a wrongly convicted man arrested or worse and how she wasted police time, along with calling out the boyfriend for accusing her of cheating when he really had no evidence before mocking them and kicking them off his stage.
  • "Mommy, I Keep Getting Raped": In this early episode from 2008, a guest named Laney came on the show to try to get her daughter back. Before even going into the details of her story, Wilkos made Laney stand and tossed away her chair, and the reason why soon became obvious: Laney was accused of allowing her daughter to be sexually abused by no fewer than seven different men (she claimed it was only three) and then beating her daughter when her daughter came to her for help. Laney denied beating her daughter and claimed she hadn't known about the rapes at the time, but her lie detector results suggested otherwise. She acted remorseful but claimed she was guilty of nothing more than "trusting the wrong people" around her daughter and that she had "suffered enough" and deserved to be in her daughter's life. She also refused to sign adoption papers, though her daughter had requested that she sign them, refusing to accept that her daughter no longer wanted anything to do with her. Needless to say, Laney's refusal to accept responsibility for what had happened did not sit well with Wilkos, and he tore her a new one. At one point, he asked Laney to read a letter she had written to her daughter.
Laney: [reading] "I should have protected you more, and I understand 'I'm sorry' won't ever take away the pain. But I ask you to please forgive me for everything. I love you very much, and I want you to come home and be able to feel safe. I am a new person inside and out, and I know I can keep you safe forever."
[Wilkos rips the letter out of Laney's hands and crumples it into a tiny ball as the audience applauds.]
    • At the end of the segment, after Laney was revealed to have failed her lie detector test.
Wilkos: [following Laney as she runs offstage] You liar. You've really changed. You're still lying about everything that happened. You call your daughter a liar. You beat her after she told you she was raped, and now you're running. And you really want your daughter back. You've changed. Now you're telling the truth. [Expletive] liar wants her daughter back. ... Rot in hell. Go do what pigs do. Dig in the mud with your scummy friends. You know your daughter's in this building right now? ... And you know what? I'll rot in hell... before I would ever allow you to see your daughter! "You've suffered enough"? You haven't begun to suffer for what you did to your daughter! You will rot in hell! And, unfortunately, you put your daughter in it!
  • An episode where a husband and wife (Shonda) came on because the wife had abused her child (breaking arms and legs and even preventing them from going to the hospital), it was very obvious she was guilty, but what made Steve the angriest was the father. The father was given the chance to be with his kids or sign their rights away, and he signed his kids away because he believed his wife more. Apparently, this was years ago as well, but now he says if she fails, he'll leave her. Steve rightfully brings up how it's too late to go back to your kids after giving them away to stay with their abusive mother. Steve doesn't hold back and drags the man. When the husband accused his brother of turning his back on his family because the brother wasn't okay with him giving away his kids, Steve shouted, "You gave your kids away!" Shonda failed. Steve threw her off the stage but scolded the husband one last time before asking a great question: "Because I want Shonda?" before rightfully throwing the man off the stage.
  • A man came on to the show for a DNA test of his kid that he said another man was claiming was his and that the man spent a lot of time around the kid, at his and his wife's house, and even had the kid call him dad. He tries to play it off like he was the victim and just "too nice" to kick the man out. Then it's revealed that he was making up a lot and in reality, he and his wife were using the man and the man's mother to get money and such and the wife admitted there's no chance the other guy is even the father which they never disclosed to the man but kept saying they were "too nice" to tell him and that he wouldn't listen, but it becomes clearer they didn't even try to actually tell them. The test does reveal the other man isn't the father, to which the husband tries to say "I told you so!" To which Steve lambasts him for using the guy and lying to him before he kicks their asses off stage.
  • In "6 Kids Taken Away, but I Want More", Danielle's kids were taken out of her care after cops observed all 4 children, including her newborn, home alone. Her fifth and sixth babies were taken from her care, too. But it also turned out she was using drugs with the kids and while pregnant and was accused of sexually abusing them. Steve rightfully calls her out as a liar and debunks every excuse she uses such as being too fat to stand. He also rightfully calls out the dismissive boyfriend who let his kid be put into the system instead of leaving Danielle when the boyfriend revealed he was actually given the choice to leave Danielle so he could keep his kid. After Danielle fails for everything except sexually abusing her kids and denies again that she didn't do anything, Steve throws her off stage but also calls the boyfriend out and kicks him out too.
  • In "Baby Killer Confesses", a grandmother comes on and openly admits she killed her grandson by giving him alcohol and pills. The baby had a high blood alcohol limit, but the grandmother only served 15 months. She even took a lie detector test that proved she did it on purpose. Steve reveals she even told doctors the baby took the pills himself. Steve didn't hold back and even called her out for trying to cry so he could feel bad for her. He rightfully calls her out on only admitting it because of her health now and even called her out for wanting to be re-prosecuted for the crime, knowing she fell under double jeopardy. After tossing her off the stage, he brought her backstage to the mom, who rightfully hoped she lived and suffered before sending the murderer off.
