• The Mushroom City scene in Part 2, which showcases “Mario’s” bloodlust as he mows down hordes of toads and yoshis before dealing with Luigi.

• The entirety of Part 3, where Luigi struggles against Mario and almost falls into a lava pit while doing so near the end.

• Part 4. It’s noteworthy in that Luigi continues to fight doggedly for the well-being of his people, even as he witnesses his hypnotized brother gain a tremendous boost of energy from the Power Stars he’s absorbed, and that said power will only increase after the rest of the demons return with the other talismans. Not bad for the Player 2 of the Mario franchise.
