    Unchained (#1-5)

Unchained (#1-5)

  • The Ghost Rider gives the murderous proprietor of the Cave Inn a penance stare - and he simply kills himself.
  • When battling the huge demon at the Cave Inn, the Ghost Rider leaps off his bike, lands atop its head, and immediately strikes it dead.
  • Johnny Blaze once again proves why he deserves to be called "The World's Greatest Motorcyclist" in the entire Marvel Universe, outlasting a plethora of anti-heroes and villains (including Doctor Doom, Blade, and Black Window) to dominate Hell's Backbone Rally, a nightmarish motorcycle race wrought with demonic perils and where failure leads to certain doom. Johnny never once even relies on his Ghost Rider powers throughout the race, nor resorts to using dirty tactics like the more unsavory of the competitors. The best part? Johnny is clearly not in 100% condition when he participates, looking gaunt and fatigued from all the intense battles and lack of proper rest from prior issues. Yet he plows through the competition through pure skill and willpower alone.

    Shadow Country (#6-10)

Shadow Country (#6-10)

  • Ghost Rider single handedly decimates an army of demons that have made the city of Chicago's substations as their home. Grabbing a chainsaw, he first goes full Ash Williams/Leatherface on the wretched scumbags before deciding to get a little more creative by wrapping his chain around the chainsaw and makes an improvised flail out of it, God of War style!
  • And then there's Johnny Blaze's triumphant return to form in Issue #10. After spending the first 5 issues as a weakened and mentally tortured man due to the horrible experiences he suffered at the hands of Blackheart, he not only bounces back but also learns to fully embrace his dark powers... and gains his sweet vengeance by hunting down Blackheart and literally raining hellfire upon him, sending his scorched carcass back to hell.
