In the near future of 2020, high school seniors Eren Jaeger and Mikasa Ackerman receive an invitation to join a training academy ran by the Legion, a group of superheroes (called Metas in-series) who are dedicated to civilian safety and maintaining peace. After their assessment test goes awry with the unexpected appearance of two assassins, Eren, Mikasa, and Armin stumble upon a decades old conspiracy surrounding the country's most influential company: Colossus Industries.
Attack on Heroes:Resurgence is a hybrid audio play, visual novel, and fan work that started airing in 2016. It's based a little loosely off of Attack on Titan, as the series has an original plot. Currently, season 1 is airing on YouTube and the creators have confirmed a second season is in production as of May 2016.

Attack on Heroes: Resurgence provides examples of:
- Bait-and-Switch: In one of Sasha's vlogs when Annie's insulted Jean, Krista speaks up and tells everyone to lay off Jean . . . only to completely humiliate him further.
- Call to Adventure: Erwin personally invites all new recruits to the Legion.
- Canon Foreigner: Eileen Hale, Switchblade, Maelstrom, and Thunder aren’t present in the anime or manga.
- Collective Groan: When Jean makes a sexist comment in one of Sasha's vlogs, no one finds it funny.
- Noodle Incident: In episode 1, Levi refers to a joke that Erwin made that affected Nifa so deeply that she “can’t look [Levi] in the eye.”
- Race Lift: Nearly every character has had their race changed. Given the canon material is ambiguous, however, some were just given specifics.
